Despite Sheen's status as group leader, by the time the trio entered the recording studio, Spector was often using Darlene Love as the group's primary vocalist. Sheen sang lead on the group's first hit: 1962's "Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah" (originally from the 1946 Disney movie Song of the South). Love, meanwhile, handled the lead vocals on Bob B. Soxx and the Blue Jeans' two follow-up singles: 1963's "Why Do Lovers Break Each Other's Hearts?" and "Not Too Young to Get Married".
Sheen and Love share vocal duties on the only album the group ever recorded (1963's Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah).
Sheen can be heard as lead vocalist on the group's final recordings, two cuts on the classic Spector-produced LP "A Christmas Gift for You from Phil Spector" (1963), on which Love also appears as a solo artist. On the cover of this album, a group portrait shows Sheen with two "Blue Jeans" vocalists who have been tentatively identified as James and yet another Blossoms member, Gloria Jones.
After 1963 the group was dropped by Philles Records and effectively ceased to exist. Sheen went back to using his real name, cut some tracks for Capitol Records in the mid 1960s, and later joined a late-running touring version of The Coasters. Love, meanwhile, recorded a few solo hits, but, more memorably was the lead vocalist on at least two hit records by The Crystals.
The Walk

I only brought her trouble since the day she met me
If I was her, by now I would have left me
I would have walked away
But now I've broken away
Somehow instead she forgave me
She said a woman's got to do what she's got to do
Even if it means she denied herself the truth
You've fallen in love in the worst way
And if you don't go now then you'll stay
'Cause I'll never let you leave, never let you breathe
'Cause if you're looking for heaven, baby it sure as hell ain't me
So walk away
(walk away)
Walk away, oh
Save yourself from the heartache, oh
Go now before it's too late
So walk away
(walk away)
Walk away, oh
Save yourself from the heartache, oh
Go now before it's too late
But still she stays
She's standing in the heart of darkness
Saying I know you got a soul even though you're heartless
How could any woman in their right mind be so blind,
To find something this safe
Instead of walking with me she should have walked away
She finds color in the darkest places
She finds beauty in the saddest of faces
For such a clued in, headstrong city girl
Could've had the world but she's fallen in love in the worst way
And if you don't go now then you'll stay
'Cause I'll never let you leave, never let you breathe
'Cause if you're looking for heaven, baby it sure as hell ain't me
So walk away
(walk away)
Walk away, oh
Save yourself from the heartache, oh
Go now before it's too late
So walk away
(walk away)
Walk away, oh
Save yourself from the heartache, oh
Go now before it's too late
But still she stays
(Oh, yeah)
But still she stays
(Oh, yeah)
I don't know why she's with me
I only brought her trouble since the day she met me
If I was her, by now I would have left me
I would have walked away
But you've fallen in love in the worst way
And if you don't go now then you'll stay
'Cause I'll never let you leave, never let you breathe
'Cause if you're looking for heaven, baby it sure as hell ain't me
So walk away
(walk away)
Walk away, oh
Save yourself from the heartache, oh
Go now before it's too late
So walk away
(walk away)
Walk away, oh
Save yourself from the heartache, oh
Go now before it's too late
But still she stays
(Yeah)
But still she stays, eh
I'm saying walk away
Yeah
I'm saying walk away
(Save yourself from the heartache, go now before it's too late)
But still she stays
Still she stays
Yeah, she stays
She stays
The lyrics to Bob B. Soxx & The Blue Jeans' song The Walk depict a man's recognition of the trouble he has brought to his relationship with a woman. The man recognizes that he has made mistakes and feels that he is not worthy of the woman's love. He acknowledges that if he were in her shoes, he would have left him by now. Despite his flaws, the woman remains with him, which is something he does not understand. He implores her to walk away from him for her own happiness, but she chooses to stay.
The lyrics suggest that the woman has fallen in love in the worst way, despite the man's behavior towards her. The man knows that he is not the "heaven" that the woman is looking for, yet she chooses to stay with him. He describes her as standing in the heart of darkness and being blind to his true nature. However, he also recognizes that she has the ability to find beauty and color in the saddest places.
The overall theme of the song is about the complexities of love and relationships, as well as the difficulty of leaving someone even when it is the best course of action for one's well-being.
