I've Got My Eyes on You
Bob Crosby Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I′ve Got My Eyes On You, So Best Beware Where You Roam.
I've Got My Eyes On You, So Don′t Stray Too Far From Home.
Incidentally, I've Set My Spies On You,
I'm Checking All You Do, From A To Zee.
So, Darling, Just Be Wise, Keep Your Eyes On Me

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Bob Crosby's song I've Got My Eyes on You are about a devoted lover who has his eyes fixed entirely on his beloved. He warns his lover to stay close and be careful where he roams, as he is always watching and keeping tabs on his every move. The song conveys the idea that the singer is jealous but also deeply in love.

The line "incidentally, I've set my spies on you" demonstrates the singer's strong desire to keep an eye on his partner at all times. He is obsessively controlling and wants to know everything about his lover, from what he does during the day to the friends he hangs out with.

Throughout the song, he encourages his lover to be wise and keep his eyes on him, suggesting that this is the only way they can maintain a strong relationship. The lyrics could be interpreted as either sweet and romantic or manipulative and possessive, depending on the listener's perspective.

Excellent sound!

I've never been crazy about Marion Mann's singing -- it always strikes me as merely alright. There are other things to appreciate here, though: the reeds; Jess Stacy's beautiful comping for the vocal; Irving Fazola's wailing here and there over the ensemble; Eddie Miller's eight bars.

Nothing wrong with Marion Mann´s singing!

@@jourwalis-8875 Did I say that there was anything "wrong" with Marion's singing? I merely expressed my opinion of it. Do you not understand that The Arts is an environment of opinions? It's not about facts -- it's about emotional responses.

I've been a fan of Stacy's talent since I first heard him on Goodman's
"Roll 'Em". Colossal!

Marion's singing is certainly not bad, but not really great either. Pleasantly unobtrusive. The main interest lies with the band, with Billy Butterfield's singing trumpet leading the brass section.

I grew up with this Cole porter song.i liked my moms record better because it was sung by 3dith Wright. She had one of those alto voices like Alice Fay. If I am not mistaken the flip side was entitled. Shoot the sherbet to e Herbert. Ps. One of my favorite Bob Cosby recordings was royal garden blues. Happy labor day from someone who 'll as in the big middle valley of call for nai. Weather predicted for Tuesday 115 degess.
