Dont't think twice it's all r

It don't matter, anyhow
An' it ain't no use to sit and wonder why, babe
If you don't know by now
When your rooster crows at the break of dawn
Look out your window and I'll be gone
You're the reason I'm trav'lin' on
Don't think twice, it's all right
It ain't no use in turnin' on your light, babe
That light I never knowed
An' it ain't no use in turnin' on your light, babe
I'm on the dark side of the road
Still I wish there was somethin' you would do or say
To try and make me change my mind and stay
We never did too much talkin' anyway
So don't think twice, it's all right
It ain't no use in callin' out my name, gal
Like you never did before
It ain't no use in callin' out my name, gal
I can't hear you any more
I'm a-thinkin' and a-wond'rin' all the way down the road
I once loved a woman, a child I'm told
I give her my heart but she wanted my soul
But don't think twice, it's all right
I'm walkin' down that long, lonesome road, babe
Where I'm bound, I can't tell
But goodbye's too good a word, gal
So I'll just say fare thee well
I ain't sayin' you treated me unkind
You could have done better but I don't mind
You just kinda wasted my precious time
But don't think twice, it's all right
In "Don't Think Twice, It's All Right," Bob Dylan tells a story of a relationship that has run its course. The song is about moving on and accepting that things didn't work out. The lyrics are full of resignation and a sense that the singer has come to terms with the end of his relationship.
The song's first verse speaks to the fact that there's no point in mourning a relationship that didn't work out. The singer encourages his partner not to dwell on why things didn't work out, stating that it simply doesn't matter. The second verse is about how the singer has moved on to the "dark side of the road." He acknowledges that there's nothing she could have done to make him stay, but he still wishes she had tried.
In the third verse, the singer explains that he's already gone and it's too late for her to call him back. He reflects on a past relationship and how his partner at the time wanted too much from him. In the final verse, he says goodbye and acknowledges that the relationship was a waste of his "precious time."

It ain't no use to sit and wonder why, babe
It is futile to ponder reasons, dear
It don't matter, anyhow
Regardless, it holds no significance
An' it ain't no use to sit and wonder why, babe
Repeating the point, wish not to inquire
If you don't know by now
If you haven't yet figured it out
When your rooster crows at the break of dawn
At the sunrise when your bird crows
Look out your window and I'll be gone
Gaze out the glass and find me having left
You're the reason I'm trav'lin' on
The impetus for my travels is you
Don't think twice, it's all right
Thus, it is good not to dwell
It ain't no use in turnin' on your light, babe
Powering your lamp is useless, honey
That light I never knowed
I'm not familiar with that brightness
An' it ain't no use in turnin' on your light, babe
Again, don't waste energy on illumination
I'm on the dark side of the road
Currently, I tread the path where shades dwell
Still I wish there was somethin' you would do or say
Despite the gloom, I yearn for an action or phrase
To try and make me change my mind and stay
With the intent of convincing me not to proceed
We never did too much talkin' anyway
In any case, we didn't communicate much
So don't think twice, it's all right
Therefore, there's no need to think about the past
It ain't no use in callin' out my name, gal
Shouting my name won't make a difference, lady
Like you never did before
Just like any other time
I can't hear you any more
But I can't hear you anymore
I'm a-thinkin' and a-wond'rin' all the way down the road
Pondering and wandering the path alone
I once loved a woman, a child I'm told
I once adored a lady, some say an innocent
I give her my heart but she wanted my soul
I gave her affection, but she intended for more
But don't think twice, it's all right
However, nothing to mull over, all's fine
I'm walkin' down that long, lonesome road, babe
I journey along that lengthy, desolate path, dear
Where I'm bound, I can't tell
I know not where I'm headed
But goodbye's too good a word, gal
But 'goodbye' is too gracious to say, girl
So I'll just say fare thee well
Therefore, I bid you adieu
I ain't sayin' you treated me unkind
I'm not stating you behaved poorly
You could have done better but I don't mind
Perhaps you could improve, but no issue
You just kinda wasted my precious time
Rather, you spent my valuable moments thoughtlessly
But don't think twice, it's all right
Still, don't think twice, it's all right

Hermosa interpretación.Joan encantadora.

Just the best version of this song I've found. Really needs the slower, more reflective tempo used here - most versions seem much too fast. Better than Joan Baez's much earlier 1960s version for that reason.
