Just Like a Woman
Bob Dylan Lyrics

Nobody feels any pain
Tonight as I stand inside the rain
Everybody knows
That baby's got new clothes
But lately I see her ribbons and her bows
Have fallen from her curls

She takes just like a woman, yeah, she does
She makes love just like a woman, yeah, she does
And she aches just like a woman
But she breaks just like a little girl

Queen Mary
She's my friend
Yes, I believe I'll go see her again
Nobody has to guess
That baby can't be blessed
'Til she finally sees that she's like all the rest
With her fog, her amphetamine and her pearls

She takes just like a woman, yes
She makes love just like a woman, yeah, she does
And she aches just like a woman
But she breaks just like a little girl

Yeah, it was raining from the first
And I was dying there of thirst
So I came in here
And your long-time curse hurts
But what's worse
Is this pain in here
I can't stay in here
Ain't it clear that

I just can't fit
Yes, I believe it's time for us to quit
But when we meet again
Introduced as friends
Please don't let on that you knew me when
I was hungry and it was your world

Ah, you fake just like a woman, yes, you do
You make love just like a woman, yes, you do
Then you ache just like a woman
But you break just like a little girl

@Home At Last You are underestimating bob dylan. First, you must see not on what he writes but how he writes.
The way Bob Dylan writes uses simple but careful choice of words with deep meanings, like Mr. Tambourine Man. He also writes sensitive topics like injustice but writes them in a way where no one is able to interpret it easily. He writes How he defines a topic is also unique. Like his take on topics about lost love is not something just anybody can think about nor write about. He also uses history in his songs and he tells stories in a very clever way.

No one really fully understands (I also don't) the lyrics that Bob Dylan writes and what he means about them. A proof is that, a lot of people tends to have so many interpretations of his own songs. What makes Bob Dylan a genius is how he views things and he writes them into words. For me, he is like a modern bard. And your claim of that you can write songs like Bob Dylan is just you underestimating him. Even an English major would not be able to write like him. Its not that simple. I like to write songs and poems on my own a lot and I will never get to his level no matter how I will try because Bob Dylan is Bob Dylan.

Pop songs like We are the World is something that everyone will understand and relate to because it is written to be like that. But Bob Dylan writes his own songs so that he may be able to express his own feelings, ideas and beliefs into a song which only he can understands but at the same time, sharing his 'view' to his listeners and let them think and judge it.

If you want technical examples of why he is a genius, he also had a lot of achievements into the music industry. I would not enumerate it as you can go and search about it instead, but one example is that he pioneered or maybe even invented folk rock. Without him, we wouldn't get get great musicians like Simon and Garfunkel. Even Paul Simon admired Bob Dylan and without him there would be no Sound of Silence. Paul Simon also tried to sound "ironic like Bob Dylan but he can't get it to be like him, as his voice sounds too sincere."

We overuse and throw the word "genius" around a lot, especially in the music biz and in Hollywood. But in Dylan's case, you cannot use the word enough.

@Fifuga Dylan himself said in numerous interviews that he didn't even know what his songs meant --- they had no special meaning. That's because of his "black box" approach. He talks about with one of his songs ---- he was on drugs and wrote for hours all night, just typing stuff --- and it was barbae. And he was able to pull a bunch of lines from the garbage to create a song. "Yonder stands your orphan with his gun, crying like a fire in the sun". It's just words --- which is why he laughs when he playes the song to Donovan --- he laughs at those lyrics. He randomly juxtaposed them. Just like there was no deep symbolic intent with wearing the Harley t-shirt on the albu cover, the same applies to those lyrics. The Beatles got this approach from Dylan and John Lennon talked about it a lot --- how its just words. He said you just try throwing words together to see if they work. Like he said to the Time Magazine Editor --- "I don't know why I write these songs I write --- I just write them. There's no great message."
