Starting out in 1963 with the group Bob Marley & The Wailers, he forged a distinctive song-writing and vocal style that would later resonate with audiences worldwide.
The Wailers would go on to release some of the earliest reggae records with producer Lee Scratch Perry.
After The Wailers disbanded in 1974, Marley pursued a solo career which culminated in the release of the album Exodus in 1977 which established his worldwide reputation and became one of the world's best-selling artists of all time, with sales of more than 75 million albums and singles.
Bob Marley was a member of this Rastafari movement, whose culture was a key element in the development of reggae. Bob Marley became the leading proponent of the Rastafari, taking their music out of socially deprived areas of Jamaica and onto the international music scene.
Now considered a "Rasta" prophet, Marley's adoption of the characteristic Rastafarian dreadlocks and famous use of marijuana as a sacred sacrament in the late sixties were an integral part of his persona. He is said to have entered every performance proclaiming the divinity of Jah Rastafari.
A few months before his death, Marley was baptised into the Ethiopian Orthodox Church and took the name Berhane Selassie (meaning the Light of the Holy Trinity in Amharic).
His best known songs are a mixture of reggae, Roots Reggae, and rhythm and blues, which include:
I Shot the Sheriff
Exodus
Could You Be Loved
Redemption Song
No Woman, No Cry
Three Little Birds
Buffalo Soldier
Is This Love
One Love
Stir It Up
Jammin'
Get Up, Stand Up
His posthumous album Legend (1984) became the best-selling reggae album ever, with sales of more than 12 million copies.
Bob Marley was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994; in December 1999, his album “Exodus” (1977) was named Album of the Century by Time Magazine and his song “One Love” was designated Song of the Millennium by the BBC.

Rastas belive they are outcast from their native Zion and looked on Ethiopia as their real home and Tafarai Makonnen, who took the title Haile Sellasie I(Power of the Holy Trinity in Amharic), after he became the emperor of Ethiopia, as their leader. Rastas belive H.I.M. is Jesus in flesh. Rastas are considered to be black Jews.
Rastas claim their root from King Solomon and Abbysinian queen of Sheba, through lineage of their son Menelik, emperor of Abbysinia. H.I.M. is said to be a direct decendant of Menelik. 'Ras' means Head and 'Tafarai" means Creator. 'Jah' is the shortened form of the Hebrew word Jehovah. Rastas belive in one truth and that is the truth of His Imperial Majesty, Emperor Haile Sellasie I, King of kings, Lord of lords, conquering Lion of the tribe of Judah, two hundred and twenty-fifth ruler of the three thousand year old Ethiopian empire, elect of Jah, Light of the world. Jah Rastafari live out. Rastas preach a non-materialistic, egalitarian way of life. Goes to my head
Makes me forget that I
Still need her so
Red, red wine
It's up to you
All I can do I've done
Memories won't go
I'd have sworn that with time
Thoughts of you would leave my head
I was wrong, now I find
Just one thing makes me forget
Red, red wine
Stay close to me
Don't let me be alone
It's tearin' apart
My blue, blue heart
I'd have sworn that with time
Thoughts of you would leave my head
I was wrong, now I find
Just one thing makes me forget
Red, red wine
Stay close to me
Don't let me be alone
It's tearin' apart
My blue, blue heart
Red red wine, you make me feel so fine
You keep me rockin' all of the time
Red red wine, you make me feel so grand
I feel a million dollar when you're just in my hand
Red red wine, you make me feel so sad
Any time I see you go, it make me feel bad
Red red wine, you make me feel so fine
Monkey pack him Rizla pon the sweet Dep line
(Red red wine)
Red red wine, you give me whole heap of zing
Whole heap of zing, you make me do my own thing
(It's up to you)
Red red wine, you really know how fi love
Your kind of lovin' like a blessing from above
Red red wine, I loved you right from the start
Right from the start with all of my heart
Red red wine in an eighties style
Red red wine in a modern beat style, yeah
(I'd have sworn)
Give me a little time, help me clear up my mind
(That with time)
Give me a little time, help me clear up my mind

Give me red wine, the kind make me feel fine

The line broke, the monkey get choked
Burn bad ganja pon his little rowing boat

Hold on to you 'cause I know your love true
(Stay close to me)
Red red wine, I'm gonna love you till I die
Love you till I die, and that's no lie
(Don't let me be alone)
Red red wine, can't get you off my mind
Wherever you may be, I'll surely find
(It's tearin' apart)

(My blue, blue heart)
Just stick with us

The song “Red Red Wine” is about heartbreak and how consuming alcohol can help someone temporarily forget their troubles. The lyrics describe how red wine goes to the singer’s head and makes them forget that they still need their former lover. They talk about how they thought time would wash away the memories of that person, but a sip of red wine can bring them all back. The lyrics also describe how the singer loves red wine when it makes them feel good, but hates it when it reminds them of their heartbreak.
The repetition of the words “red red wine” creates a catchy and memorable chorus. The singer’s voice is soulful and emotive, conveying the pain and pleasure they experience when drinking red wine. The song has a reggae beat that adds to the laid-back and relaxed mood. The lyrics are simple but effective in conveying the singer's feelings of longing and desperation.

@bokocrew
"Red, Red Wine" is a song written and performed by Neil Diamond in 1968.
Tony Tribe covered the song in 1969 in a reggae-influenced style, and UB40 covered the song in 1983 in a lighter reggae-style.
Although Bob Marley never covered the song,
the reggae cover versions have often been incorrectly attributed to him.
@juanalfonso88
Where would this cover's relationship with Marley begin?
@firstname_lastname2
@@juanalfonso88 because bob marley is the only reggae artist to ever exist /s
@germanmeza5193
He owns there masters lol jk
@codyminecrack248
But WHY?
@blingblingboi5578
@@juanalfonso88 Probably bob’s verse started at the “red red wine you make me feel so fine” speech at the end since the actual vid of UB40 doesn’t have that speech verse at the end
