Stop That Train
Bob Marley Lyrics

Stop that train, I'm leavin' today!
Stop that train, I'm leavin' anyway!
Stop that train, I'm leavin'
And I said, it won't be too long whether I'm right or wrong
I said, it won't be too long whether I'm right or wrong

All my good life I've been a lonely man
Teachin' my people who don't understand
And even though I tried my best
I still can't find no happiness

So I got to say
Stop that train, I'm leavin' oh, baby now!
Stop that train, I'm leavin', I don't care what you say!
Stop that train, I'm leavin'
And I said, it won't be too long whether I'm right or wrong
I said, it won't be too long whether I'm right or wrong

Some goin' east, and-a some goin' to west
Some stand aside to try their best
Some livin' big, but the most is livin' small
They just can't even find no food at all

I mean, stop it
Stop that train, I'm leavin', believe me, mm-hmm
Stop that train, I'm leavin', I don't mind!
Stop that train, I'm leavin'
And I said, it won't be too long whether I'm right or wrong
I said, it won't be too long whether I'm right or wrong

Stop that train, I'm leavin', believe me
Stop that train, I'm leavin', can't take it!
Stop that train, I'm leavin', got to be better!
It won't be too long whether I'm right or wrong
I said it won't be too long whether I'm right or wrong

[Chorus]
Stop that train: I'm leaving - today!
Stop that train: I'm leaving - anyway!
Stop that train: I'm leaving - and I said
It won't be too long whether I'm right or wrong
I said, it won't be too long whether I'm right or wrong

[Verse 1]
All my good life I've been a lonely man
Teaching the people who don't understand
And even though I tried my best
I still can't find no happiness

So I got to say

[Chorus]
Stop that train: I'm leaving - any day, now
Stop that train: I'm leaving - don't care what you say!
Stop that train: I'm leaving - and I said
It won't be too long whether I'm right or wrong
Said, it won't be too long whether I'm right or wrong

[Verse 2]
Some going east; and some going west
Some stand aside to try their best
Some living big, but the most is living small
They just can't even find no food at all

I mean, stop it

[Chorus]
Stop that train: I'm leaving - leaving, mm-hmm
Stop that train: I'm leaving - I don't mind!
Stop that train: I'm leaving - and I said
It won't be too long whether I'm right or wrong
I said it won't be too long whether I'm right or wrong

[Chorus]
Stop that train: I'm leaving – leaving!
Stop that train: I'm leaving - can't take it!
Stop that train: I'm leaving - got to be better!
It won't be too long whether I'm right or wrong
I said it won't be too long whether I'm right or wrong

[Fadeout]

I think this is one of Peter Tosh's best tunes. And one of the greatest basslines ever.

Catch a Fire, released on 13 April 1973, was the fifth album by Jamaican reggae band The Wailers, and the first the band released on Island Records. In later issues of the album, Island Records has renamed the band to Bob Marley and the Wailers because Marley had reached international fame by then. The album features nine songs, two of which were written by Peter Tosh ("400 Years", "Stop That Train") and the rest by Bob Marley. Tosh is doing the lead vocals on his songs, Marley on his songs.
