During 1970 and 1971, Wailer, Marley and Tosh worked with renowned reggae producers Leslie Kong and Lee "Scratch" Perry.
They released four albums before signing to Island Records in 1972. Two more albums were created before Tosh and Wailer left the band in 1974, citing grievances over label treatment and ideological differences. Marley carried on with a new line-up, including the I-Threes that put out seven more more albums. Marley died in 1981.
The Wailers were a groundbreaking ska and reggae group, noted for songs such as "Simmer Down", "Trenchtown Rock", "Nice Time", "War", "Stir It Up" and "Get Up, Stand Up".

Bob Marley & The Wailers Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Which hold one race superior
And another
Inferior
Is finally
And permanently
Discredited
And abandoned
Me say war.
And until there is no longer
First class and second class citizens of any nation
Until the color of a man's skin
Is of no more significance than the color of his eyes
I've got to say war.
And until the basic human rights
Are equally guaranteed to all,
Without regard to race
Dis a war.
Until that day
The dream of lasting peace,
The world citizenship
The rule of international morality
Will remain in but a fleeting illusion to be pursued,
But never attained,
Well everywhere is war, war.
War
War
War
War
War
And until the ignoble and unhappy regimes
That hold our brothers in South Africa,
Namibia,
In sub-human bondage
Have been toppled,
Utterly destroyed,
Well, everywhere is war
War
War
War in the east,
War in the west,
War up north,
War down south,
This is a war
A war
A war
Rumors of war.
Yes them war, them war
A rumors of war
'Cause until that day,
The African continent
Will not know peace,
We Africans will fight, we find it necessary
We know we shall win
We are confident
In the victory
Of good over evil
Of good over evil
Of good over evil
Well, everywhere is war
Me say war
War in the east,
War in the west,
War up north,
War down south,
Yes them war
Them war
Them war
Them war
Them war
Them war
Them war
Them war
Them war
Yes them war
Some cryin'
Some dyin'
Some willin'
Some losin'
Singin
We don't need no no no no no
No more trouble
We don't need
No no no no no
No more trouble
No more troubles children

Hey!
What we need is love (love)
To guide and protect us on (on)

The lyrics to Bob Marley's "War" is a call for people to fight against inequality and injustice. The song is essentially about the fight against racial discrimination and oppression, specifically the apartheid regime in South Africa. The first verse talks about the philosophy of one race being superior to another leading to war and how this needs to stop. The second verse highlights the need for equality among all people, regardless of their skin color. The chorus repeats the word "war," emphasizing the need to fight against injustice until peace and equality are achieved. The final verses are an acknowledgment that the fight for peace and equality is ongoing and declares that we need love to guide and protect us.
Bob Marley was inspired to write "War" after attending the One Love Peace Concert in Kingston, Jamaica, in 1978.
The song was released in 1976 as part of the album "Rastaman Vibration."
"War" is one of Bob Marley's most popular songs and is often considered an anthem for peace.
The song's lyrics were adapted from a speech given by Ethiopian Emperor Haile Selassie I to the United Nations in 1963.
The line "We don't need no trouble, we need love" was used in the chorus of the song "One Love" from Marley's 1977 album "Exodus."
Marley's "War" was famously covered by Sinéad O'Connor in 1990, with the lyrics altered to protest child abuse.
The song was used in a commercial for Nike in 1995, which enraged Marley's family and fans who felt it went against the message of the song.
In 1999, Marley's son Julian released an updated version of "War" with new lyrics to reflect ongoing conflicts around the world.
The original version of "War" was banned in South Africa under the apartheid regime.
Despite being banned, Marley played "War" during his concert in Zimbabwe in 1980, prompting the crowds to chant "Africa Unite" in response.
Chords: The chords to "War" are A, G, E, and D.

Could you be loved?
And be loved
Could you be loved?
And be loved
Don't let them fool ya
Or even try to school ya
Oh, no
We've got a mind of our own
So go to hell if what you're thinking isn't right
Love would never leave us alone
Ah, in the darkness, there must come out to light
Could you be loved?
And be loved
Could you be loved? Oh, yeah
And be loved
The road of life is rocky
And you may stumble too
So while you point your fingers, someone else is judging you
Could you be, could you be, could you be loved?
Could you be, could you be loved?
Could you be, could you be, could you be loved?
Could you be, could you be loved?
Don't let them change ya, oh
Or even rearrange ya
Oh, no
We've got a life to live (oh, oh, oh)
They say: Only, only
Only the fittest of the fittest shall survive
Stay alive, eh
Could you be loved?
And be loved
Could you be loved? Oh, yeah
And be loved
Rude walk through the darkness
And see the greater light
Could you be loved? Could you be loved?
Could you be, could you be, could you be loved?
Let the light be your guide and things gon' be alright
Could you be loved? Could you be loved?
Could you be, could you be, could you be loved?
Don't let them change ya, oh
Or even rearrange ya
Oh, no
Get up, get up, get up, get up
Get up, get up, get up, get up, get up
Get up, get up, get up, get up now, yeah
We've been, we've been
I said, down too long
Get up, get up, get up now
Get up now, up, yeah
Could you be loved?
And be loved
Could you be loved? Oh, yeah
And be loved
You ain't gon' miss your water
Until your well runs dry
No matter how you treat him, the man will never be satisfied

@DmDrae
She is with the Creator, one with our universe once more.
When you see waves in the ocean they are singular & individual, but when they crash upon the beach the wave does not disappear - it returns to the ocean, much like our spirits.
Atheists claim ‘nothing’ exists after death.
Well, even according to science, the universe was birthed from ‘nothing.’ There was nothing before, and then the Big Bang occurred, and something came from it; that something being literally everything.
So even if you don’t believe in an afterlife or God, take solace in the fact that if nothing happens after death and the universe came from nothing, your mother has still returned to our creator.
Be well, my friend. Much love to you from the US ❤️
Merry Christmas.

I'm 28 years old and around 10 years ago I was in a dark moment in my life. I waked up every day listening to Bob Marleys song which helped me to find the joy of life again. Bob Marley music saved my life.

@shirleylyle3191
I can absolutely relate to what you said, when I was alone, lonely, lost and feeling desperate. Listening to Bob Marley everyday inspired me and bought me out the darkness that surrounded me. He inspired me to hold on, keep doing my best. He remains my all time favorite artist, period.
