During 1970 and 1971, Wailer, Marley and Tosh worked with renowned reggae producers Leslie Kong and Lee "Scratch" Perry.
They released four albums before signing to Island Records in 1972. Two more albums were created before Tosh and Wailer left the band in 1974, citing grievances over label treatment and ideological differences. Marley carried on with a new line-up, including the I-Threes that put out seven more more albums. Marley died in 1981.
The Wailers were a groundbreaking ska and reggae group, noted for songs such as "Simmer Down", "Trenchtown Rock", "Nice Time", "War", "Stir It Up" and "Get Up, Stand Up".

I want to know, Lord, I want to know
Why's this bumping and a-boring?
I want to know, Lord, I want to know now
We should really love each other (love each other)
In peace and harmony (peace and harmony), ooh
Instead, we're fussing and fighting (fussing and fighting)
Why's this fussing and a-fighting?
I want to know, Lord, I want to know (...know), I want to know now
Why's this cheating and backbiting?
(I want to know...) I want to know, oh, Lord, I want to know now
(Stop your fussing and fighting, stop your fussing and fighting)
(Stop your fussing and fighting, stop your fussing and fighting)
We should really love each other (love each other)
In peace and harmony (peace and harmony)
Instead, instead, we're fussing and fighting (fussing and fighting)
Like we ain't supposed to be (...supposed to be), tell me why
Why's this fussing and a-fighting?
I want to know, Lord, I want to know, someone, please
Why's this (...bumping and...) bumping and boring?
(I wanna...) I want to know (...I want to know), Lord, tell me now ...
The lyrics of Bob Marley & Lee "Scratch" Perry's song Fussing And Fighting are an appeal for peace and love in a world full of conflict, bickering, and negativity. The song's message is about the need to stop fighting and start creating harmony and unity in the world. The song starts with a series of questions about why there is so much fussing and fighting, and why people are always cheating and backbiting. Bob Marley and Lee "Scratch" Perry assert that we should love each other, live in peace and harmony, and stop fussing and fighting. The two artists also indicate that instead of living in peace and love, we are working iniquity and living in a world where we are not meant to fuss and fight.
Marley and Perry use the words "fuss and fight" to denote the everyday conflicts that people find themselves in. They believe that these conflicts arise from a lack of understanding and communication, which leads to cheating and backbiting. They advocate for love, peace, and harmony as the antidote to all the negativity and conflict in the world. The chorus of the song tells everyone to stop their fussing and fighting and to start loving each other. The song conveys a message that if we all extend love to each other, we can create a harmonious society that is free from conflict, disputes, and negativity.
In conclusion, Bob Marley & Lee "Scratch" Perry's song Fussing And Fighting is a powerful message of love, peace, and harmony. The lyrics of the song encourage everyone to put aside their differences, stop fussing and fighting, and start loving one another in the pursuit of creating a harmonious world.
