During 1970 and 1971, Wailer, Marley and Tosh worked with renowned reggae producers Leslie Kong and Lee "Scratch" Perry.
They released four albums before signing to Island Records in 1972. Two more albums were created before Tosh and Wailer left the band in 1974, citing grievances over label treatment and ideological differences. Marley carried on with a new line-up, including the I-Threes that put out seven more more albums. Marley died in 1981.
The Wailers were a groundbreaking ska and reggae group, noted for songs such as "Simmer Down", "Trenchtown Rock", "Nice Time", "War", "Stir It Up" and "Get Up, Stand Up".

We're jammin':
I want to jam it wid you.
We're jammin', jammin',
And I hope you like jammin', too.
Ain't no rules, ain't no vow, we can do it anyhow:
I'n'I will see you through,
Jammin' till the jam is through.
We're jammin' -
To think that jammin' was a thing of the past;
We're jammin',
And I hope this jam is gonna last.
No bullet can stop us now, we neither beg nor we won't bow;
Neither can be bought nor sold.
We all defend the right; jah - jah children must unite:
Your life is worth much more than gold.
We're jammin' (jammin', jammin', jammin')
And we're jammin' in the name of the lord;
We're jammin' (jammin', jammin', jammin'),
We're jammin' right straight from yah.
Yeh! holy mount zion;
Holy mount zion:
Jah sitteth in mount zion
And rules all creation.
Yeah, we're - we're jammin' (wotcha-wa),
Wotcha-wa-wa-wa, we're jammin' (wotcha-wa),
See, I want to jam it wid you
We're jammin' (jammin', jammin', jammin')
I'm jammed: I hope you're jammin', too.
Jam's about my pride and truth I cannot hide
To keep you satisfied.
True love that now exist is the love I can't resist,
So jam by my side.
We're jammin' (jammin', jammin', jammin'), yeah-eah-eah!
I want to jam it wid you.
We're jammin', we're jammin', we're jammin', we're jammin',
We're jammin', we're jammin', we're jammin', we're jammin';
Hope you like jammin', too.
We're jammin', we're jammin' (jammin'),
We're jammin', we're jammin' (jammin').
I want to (i want to jam it wid you) - I want to -
I want to jam wid you now.
Jammin', jammin' (hope you like jammin' too).
Eh-eh! I hope you like jammin', I hope you like jammin',
'Cause (i want to jam it wid you). I want to ... wid you.
I like - I hope you - I hope you like jammin', too.
I want to jam it;
I want to jam it.
The lyrics of Bob Marley & The Wailers's song "Jammin" celebrate the power of music to bring people together and transcend societal divisions. From the opening lines, the song is an invitation to join in and let loose: "We're jammin', jammin', I wanna jam it with you." The repetition of this phrase creates a sense of unity and shared purpose, making it clear that everyone is invited to participate regardless of their background.
The song then turns to more serious themes. In the second verse, Marley suggests that there are no rules or vows when it comes to jamming; it's an activity that can be done in any way that feels right. He stresses the importance of perseverance and sacrifice, reminding listeners that every day we pay a price to live in this world. But through music, we can escape those troubles and conflicts and find a sense of joy and freedom.
The third verse takes on a political tone, suggesting that the power of the jam comes from its ability to unite people who might otherwise be divided. Marley suggests that no outside force can stop the momentum of the jam, and that the spirit of resistance comes from the fact that, "We all defend the right, Jah Jah children must unite." The final verse brings the song back to its roots with a shout-out to Jamaica's Holy Mount Zion, where the song suggests that Jah (God) "sitteth" and "rules all creation."
