Once he started a solo career, Brown enjoyed commercial and critical success with his second album Don't Be Cruel (1988) which spawned five Billboard Hot 100 top 10 singles, including the number one hit "My Prerogative", and the Grammy Award-winning "Every Little Step". In 1989, Brown contributed two songs to the soundtrack of Ghostbusters II. In 1992, Brown married superstar singer Whitney Houston, with whom he later had a daughter named Bobbi Kristina Brown. The couple's drug issues and domestic disputes made them tabloid fodder.
Brown's next album Bobby (1992) spawned several singles including "Humpin' Around", "Get Away", and "Good Enough", however, sales of Bobby did not reach the level of its predecessor.
Brown also appeared in the films A Thin Line Between Love and Hate and Two Can Play That Game. He returned to New Edition for a reunion album and tour from 1996 to 1997, and returned with all six members for another stint in 2005. Brown and Houston starred in the 2005 reality show Being Bobby Brown; Houston filed for divorce two years later in 2007.
Storm Away

Looking back on when I was a child
Not a care in the world
All I've learned and all that I know now
Sometimes we go through pain
Please take us from the rain, yeah
Seems like no one even cares, yeah
Think about the children and what they need
Help me find a way, yeah, yeah, to take the storm away, yeah
Somebody take the storm away
Somebody take the storm away
Somebody take the storm away
Before it comes on down, yeah, yeah baby
Somebody take the storm away
Somebody take the storm away
Somebody take the storm away
Before it comes on down, yeah, yeah baby
I know we've come too far
But we must live in a world full of love
I know, I know, I know we can
I know we can take the storm away
[Incomprehensible]
Somebody take the storm away
Somebody take the storm away
Somebody take the storm away
Down
You know this world is in definite need for a change
We must ask ourselves, do we want all of our kids
Growing up into a world of hate, a world of prejudice
A world of heartaches, a world of drugs and politics
I don't think so
I think, everybody wants to see the same things happen
We must come together and live together in this world
Somebody take the storm away
Somebody take the storm away
Somebody take the storm away
Down
Somebody take the storm away
The lyrics to Bobby Brown's song "Storm Away" are deeply rooted in the struggle to overcome the challenges and pain of the world. The song begins with Bobby reflecting on his childhood, when he had no worries or cares. However, as he has grown and learned, he has experienced pain and is now asking for someone to take him out of the rain, metaphorically speaking.
As the song progresses, Bobby pleads for someone to take the storm away. He is questioning why the world is the way it is and why no one seems to care. Bobby is asking for someone to think about the children, who need a world full of love, not hate, prejudice, heartache, drugs, and politics. He understands that it is time for a change, and how we choose to live and work together in this world matters.
Overall, "Storm Away" is a call to action for people to come together, put aside their differences and work towards a world of love and unity, with a focus on creating a brighter future for children.
