The Alpharetta, Georgia native and Nashville, Tennessee resident, whose last name is in fact Cool, is thankful to be on redemption’s road. Despite only being in his twenties, he has lived a life seasoned with great personal failures and the reasoning behind the title for the album is layered with meaning; both deeply personal and spiritual. “I had pretty big issues,” he says matter-of-factly. “I was arrested a few times and was a real mess. My hope for this record is that it is the beginning for us taking light into dark places. I hope that the music speaks to people and, in some way, I hope it can be a light in the same dark places I used to be.”
What Cool does now varies depending on the day. He has gone from playing his first show, junior year of college at the University of Georgia, to winning songwriters rounds, being named GigMaster’s Best of 2013/Rising Star Award Winner, and he recently opened an arena of 2000+ at a Duck Dynasty Event in Little Rock, AR. Bobby also works with World Vision and Young Life to impact communities locally and abroad. It is in this realm that he can see the vision most clearly.
“I want people to like what I’m doing,” he says. “At the end of the day though, I have to remind myself it’s not about how many people like me or like the music. Would I like a million people to buy it?” he smiles. “Yes, I would. But I know, ultimately, success is not determined by a sales figure. If what we’re doing can have an impact…even a small impact, on communities, then I would say we were successful.”

Down in a valley and out in the cold
Wasn't long before 19 when sis joined the gypsies
Brother the marines and I hit the road
In the hills of Virginia the shit that they'll tell ya
Will have you in stitches and blow you away
So when I had it my way I took to the highway
Said goodbye to my mama and went on my way
Like a boat out on the sea
Set the course, test the waters
And carry on the american dream
I was bursting with laughter shortly thereafter
To hear each of us tell how we'd put up a fight
Brother in Bahrain, sis with a girlfriend
Me in a dive bar night after night
And we'd go fight the good fight
Like a boat out on the sea
Set the course, test the waters
And carry on the american dream
Well now life has a way of handing
A hand you never meant to hold
But it comes down to how you play it
To see just where it goes
I will always remember the 6th of December
When the call that I got took the wind out my sails
The docs had no answer for Mom's type of cancer
And heaven came down in what felt like a gale
And now here I am a guitar and a band
Ain't up in the big time but love singing to you
And me, sis, and brother remember our mother
And live out her dreamin' in all that we do
When we go fight the good fight
Like a boat out on the sea
Set the course, test the waters
And carry on the american dream
The song "American Dream" by Bobby Cool tells the story of a family that struggled to make ends meet, but their love for each other kept them together. The singer, along with his sister and brother, grew up in a valley and later went their separate ways as they pursued their dreams. His sister joined the gypsies while his brother went to the marines, and he hit the road. The song reflects on how the three of them were able to overcome obstacles and hardships and pursue their dreams.
Throughout the song, the singer speaks about how they always remembered their mother's words to "go fight the good fight" and to "carry on the American dream." The singer reflects on the difficulties they faced but also on the joyous moments they shared. He speaks about how they laughed together and shared their experiences throughout their journeys.
The song is ultimately about hope and the pursuit of one's dreams. The singer and his siblings were able to carve their own paths through life and fulfill their mother's advice, despite the obstacles they faced along the way. "American Dream" is a touching tribute to the resiliency of the human spirit and the belief that anything is possible if you have the determination to pursue it.
