Darin was a very special and talented entertainer. He was a Grammy award winning singer ('Mack The Knife'), a respected member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ('Dream Lover', 'Splish Splash', 'If I Were A Carpenter') a member of the Songwriters Hall of Fame, a successful record producer, an Oscar nominated actor and a strong supporter of the American Heart Association. Bobby was married to actress Sandra Dee from 1960-1967. They had one son, Dodd, born in December 1961. As a result of complications from a rheumatic heart, Bobby's life was tragically cut short in 1973.
Darin's mother, Vanina Cassotto, had given birth to him when she was 16, and as a result, her parents raised Darin as though he were their son while Vanina was presented off as his elder sister. Darin did not learn the truth about his parentage until he was 32.

Caravan
Bobby Darin Lyrics

The myst'ry of their fading light
That shines upon our caravan
Sleep upon my shoulder as we creep
Across the sand so I may keep
The mem'ry of our caravan
You are so inviting
Resting in my arms
As I thrill to the magic charms
Of you beside me here beneath the blue
My dream of love is coming true
Within our desert caravan
The lyrics of the song, Caravan by Bobby Darin, express the romanticism of a desert caravan ride beneath the bright night sky. The singer describes the beauty of the stars that shine above, and the mystery of their fading light that illuminates their caravan. He and his lover are lying comfortably on a bed, as they embark on this exciting journey across the desert. As they move through the sand, he holds her close to him and cherishes the memory of this unique moment.
The lyrics suggest that this caravan journey holds a deeper meaning, and it’s not just a mere physical journey across the desert. Throughout the song, the singer expresses his deep love for his companion, and how she is his dream come true. The journey symbolizes their love, as they ride through the ups and downs of life, holding each other close. The experience of being in the caravan is as mesmerizing as the love they share.

One heck of a entertainer. A life cut way to soon. RIP Mr. Darin. Remember one thing he was one of the first Emmy winners, in the late 50s. When the emmys started.
