Darin was a very special and talented entertainer. He was a Grammy award winning singer ('Mack The Knife'), a respected member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ('Dream Lover', 'Splish Splash', 'If I Were A Carpenter') a member of the Songwriters Hall of Fame, a successful record producer, an Oscar nominated actor and a strong supporter of the American Heart Association. Bobby was married to actress Sandra Dee from 1960-1967. They had one son, Dodd, born in December 1961. As a result of complications from a rheumatic heart, Bobby's life was tragically cut short in 1973.
Darin's mother, Vanina Cassotto, had given birth to him when she was 16, and as a result, her parents raised Darin as though he were their son while Vanina was presented off as his elder sister. Darin did not learn the truth about his parentage until he was 32.

Paint a yuletide valentine
Back home I go to those I know
For a Christmas auld lang syne.
And as we gather 'round the tree
Our voices all combine
In sweet accord to thank the Lord
When sleigh bells ring and choirs sing
And the children's faces shine
With each new toy we share their joy
With a Christmas auld lang syne.
We sing His praise this day of days
And pray next year this time
We'll all be near to share the cheer
Of a Christmas auld lang syne.
"Merry Christmas everybody and a Happy New Year!"
In sweet accord we thank the Lord
For a Christmas auld lang syne.
The song "Christmas Auld Lang Syne" by Bobby Darin describes the joyous feeling of being home for the holidays with loved ones. The lyrics paint a picture of a cozy Christmas celebration with mistletoe, tinsel, and a tree around which family and friends gather. The sentiment of the song is gratitude and thankfulness towards the Lord for the opportunity to be together and share the Christmas spirit.
The second verse of the song talks about the sleigh bells ringing, choirs singing, and children's faces shining with joy as they open their presents. The chorus repeats the phrase "Christmas Auld Lang Syne" as a sort of refrain, and highlights the idea of sharing the Christmas cheer with those around us. The final verse brings home the message of gratitude and hope for future Christmases spent together.
Overall, the song is a heartfelt celebration of the Christmas spirit and encourages us to cherish the time we have with our loved ones during the holidays.

Never take a Christmas gathering with family and friends for granted... one day it will all be a distant memory. “Nothing is as beautiful as what we see no more.” This tune captures the feelings we keep dear in our hearts.
