Darin was a very special and talented entertainer. He was a Grammy award winning singer ('Mack The Knife'), a respected member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ('Dream Lover', 'Splish Splash', 'If I Were A Carpenter') a member of the Songwriters Hall of Fame, a successful record producer, an Oscar nominated actor and a strong supporter of the American Heart Association. Bobby was married to actress Sandra Dee from 1960-1967. They had one son, Dodd, born in December 1961. As a result of complications from a rheumatic heart, Bobby's life was tragically cut short in 1973.
Darin's mother, Vanina Cassotto, had given birth to him when she was 16, and as a result, her parents raised Darin as though he were their son while Vanina was presented off as his elder sister. Darin did not learn the truth about his parentage until he was 32.

We stood beneath an amber moon
And softly murmured "Someday soon"
We kissed and clung together
Then, tomorrow was another day
The morning found me miles away
With still a million things to say
Recalling thrills of our love
There's one thing I'm certain of
Return I will to old Brazil
Then, tomorrow was another day
The morning found me miles away
With still a million things to say
Now, when twilight dims the sky above
Recalling thrills of our love
There's one thing that I'm certain of
Return I will to old Brazil
That old Brazil
Man, it's old in Brazil
Brazil, Brazil
The song "Down With Love" was written by Harold Arlen and E.Y. Harburg in 1937 for the Broadway musical "Hooray for What!" The song has since been covered by many artists, including Bobby Darin in 1960. In this rendition, Darin tells a tale of lost love and longing, set against the backdrop of Brazil. He begins the first verse by remembering a time when he and his lover were in Brazil, where hearts were entertaining in the month of June. They stood beneath an amber moon and talked about their future together, softly murmuring "someday soon". The mood turns romantic as they kiss and cling together.
However, as the first verse comes to a close, Darin sings about how the morning found him miles away, with still a million things to say. The love he found in Brazil was lost, and he reflects on it during the chorus. The second verse has Darin pining for his lost love, dreaming of a day when he can return to Brazil and relive the happiness he once had. Despite the melancholic tone, the song ends on a hopeful note, with Darin resolute in his determination to return to Brazil.
Overall, "Down With Love" is a bittersweet song that captures the emotional ups and downs of love. It speaks to how love is not always perfect or easy, but it's worth fighting for.

One heck of a entertainer. A life cut way to soon. RIP Mr. Darin. Remember one thing he was one of the first Emmy winners, in the late 50s. When the emmys started.
