Darin was a very special and talented entertainer. He was a Grammy award winning singer ('Mack The Knife'), a respected member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ('Dream Lover', 'Splish Splash', 'If I Were A Carpenter') a member of the Songwriters Hall of Fame, a successful record producer, an Oscar nominated actor and a strong supporter of the American Heart Association. Bobby was married to actress Sandra Dee from 1960-1967. They had one son, Dodd, born in December 1961. As a result of complications from a rheumatic heart, Bobby's life was tragically cut short in 1973.
Darin's mother, Vanina Cassotto, had given birth to him when she was 16, and as a result, her parents raised Darin as though he were their son while Vanina was presented off as his elder sister. Darin did not learn the truth about his parentage until he was 32.

Have You Got Any Castles Baby
Bobby Darin Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
That you want me to build baby
Have you got any dragons
That you want to have killed, baby?
I'll get into my seven league boots
I'll get into my bulletproof suit
I'll get out my revolver that shoots
Have you got any mortgages
You want to have paid, baby?
Have you got any villains
That you want to have laid to rest?
After all my adventures are through
And I bring home a dragon or two
You can tell all the papers
That I did it because I love you
The lyrics of Bobby Darin's song "Have You Got Any Castles Baby" take on a fanciful, fairy-tale tone, as the singer asks his love interest if she has any castles that need to be built or dragons that need to be slayed. He then goes on to describe the tools he will use to accomplish these tasks, including his seven-league boots and bulletproof suit. He claims that he will lay villains to rest and pay off mortgages on her behalf. The song is ultimately an expression of devoted love, as the singer declares that he will do these things because he loves her.
The whimsical nature of the lyrics is further emphasized by the use of onomatopoeia, as the singer sings "rat-a-tat-tat-tat" to describe how he will take down his enemies. The imagery of the seven-league boots and bulletproof suit adds to the sense of adventure and fantastical elements of the song. The heartfelt declaration of love at the end of the song ties everything together with a sweet sentiment of the lengths one would go to demonstrate their love.
Overall, "Have You Got Any Castles Baby" is a playful, romantic song that blends together elements of whimsy and devotion. Through fantastical imagery and charming lyrics, the singer declares his love for his partner by offering to do almost anything for her.

One heck of a entertainer. A life cut way to soon. RIP Mr. Darin. Remember one thing he was one of the first Emmy winners, in the late 50s. When the emmys started.
