Darin was a very special and talented entertainer. He was a Grammy award winning singer ('Mack The Knife'), a respected member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ('Dream Lover', 'Splish Splash', 'If I Were A Carpenter') a member of the Songwriters Hall of Fame, a successful record producer, an Oscar nominated actor and a strong supporter of the American Heart Association. Bobby was married to actress Sandra Dee from 1960-1967. They had one son, Dodd, born in December 1961. As a result of complications from a rheumatic heart, Bobby's life was tragically cut short in 1973.
Darin's mother, Vanina Cassotto, had given birth to him when she was 16, and as a result, her parents raised Darin as though he were their son while Vanina was presented off as his elder sister. Darin did not learn the truth about his parentage until he was 32.

Lonesome Polecat

'Cause I ain't got no feminine polecat
Vowin' to be true
Can't make no vow to a herd of cows
I'm a mean old hound dog, bayin' at the moon
'Cause I ain't got no lady friend hound dog
Here to hear my tune
I'm a little old hoot owl hootin' in the trees
'Cause I ain't got no little gal owl fowl
Here to shoot the breeze
Can't shoot no breeze with a bunch of trees
Why can't I lose these lonesome polecat blues?
The song "Lonesome Polecat" by Bobby Darin is an up-tempo, fun song that showcases Darin's wit and charm. The song is about a bunch of animals, namely a polecat, a hound dog, and a hoot owl, who are all feeling incredibly lonely and blue because they don't have any female counterparts. They are all lamenting the fact that they cannot make commitments, make vows, or shoot the breeze with their respective lady friends. While the lyrics may seem silly, they are also quite poignant as they explore the universal theme of loneliness and the need for companionship.
The polecat, hound dog, and hoot owl all represent different aspects of the human experience. The polecat is a metaphor for someone who is looking for a companion but is unable to find someone they can make a commitment to. The hound dog is someone who is howling at the moon for someone to hear, someone to connect with. The hoot owl is someone who is just looking for someone to shoot the breeze with, someone to spend some time with. The song is not just about animals, but rather it is a reflection of the human condition and the struggle that many people face in finding someone to share their life with.

One heck of a entertainer. A life cut way to soon. RIP Mr. Darin. Remember one thing he was one of the first Emmy winners, in the late 50s. When the emmys started.
