Darin was a very special and talented entertainer. He was a Grammy award winning singer ('Mack The Knife'), a respected member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ('Dream Lover', 'Splish Splash', 'If I Were A Carpenter') a member of the Songwriters Hall of Fame, a successful record producer, an Oscar nominated actor and a strong supporter of the American Heart Association. Bobby was married to actress Sandra Dee from 1960-1967. They had one son, Dodd, born in December 1961. As a result of complications from a rheumatic heart, Bobby's life was tragically cut short in 1973.
Darin's mother, Vanina Cassotto, had given birth to him when she was 16, and as a result, her parents raised Darin as though he were their son while Vanina was presented off as his elder sister. Darin did not learn the truth about his parentage until he was 32.

Lover Come Back To Me

I let you
We broke the ties that bind
I wanted to forget you
And leave the past behind
Still, the magic of the night I met you
Seems to stay forever in my mind
And high above
The moon was new
And so was love
This eager heart of mine was singing
Lover where can you be
You came at last
Love had its day
That day is past
You've gone away
This aching heart of mine is singing
Lover come back to me
When I remember every little thing
You used to do
I'm so lonely
Every road I walk along
I walk along with you
No wonder I am lonely
The sky is blue
The night is cold
The moon is new
But love is old
And while I'm waiting here
This heart of mine is singing
Lover come back to me
When I remember every little thing
You used to do
I grow lonely
Every road I walk along
I walk along with you
No wonder I am lonely
The sky is blue
The night is cold
The moon is new
But love is old
And while I'm waiting here
This heart of mine is singing
Lover come back to me

You went away
Your departure occurred
I let you
I acquiesced to your leaving
We broke the ties that bind
We mutually dissolved our relationship
I wanted to forget you
I desired to erase memories of you
And leave the past behind
And move on from what we had
Still, the magic of the night I met you
Nonetheless, the enchantment from when I first saw you
Seems to stay forever in my mind
Remains etched in my memory indefinitely
The sky was blue
The atmosphere had a blue hue
And high above
And elevated far overhead
The moon was new
The lunar phase was waxing
And so was love
As was my infatuation with you
This eager heart of mine was singing
My hopeful heart was singing out
Lover where can you be
Longing for your whereabouts
You came at last
Eventually, you arrived
Love had its day
Our love flourished for a time
That day is past
However, that time has elapsed
You've gone away
You have departed
This aching heart of mine is singing
My sorrowful heart is singing out
Lover come back to me
My plea for you to return to me
When I remember every little thing
When I recollect all our past moments
You used to do
Everything you did previously
I'm so lonely
I feel incredibly solitary
Every road I walk along
Every path I take
I walk along with you
I walk it with you in my mind
No wonder I am lonely
So it is unsurprising that I feel alone
The night is cold
The evening air is chilly
But love is old
But love is timeless
And while I'm waiting here
As I remain here
This heart of mine is singing
My heart is still singing out
Lover come back to me
My appeal for you to come back to me

One heck of a entertainer. A life cut way to soon. RIP Mr. Darin. Remember one thing he was one of the first Emmy winners, in the late 50s. When the emmys started.
