Darin was a very special and talented entertainer. He was a Grammy award winning singer ('Mack The Knife'), a respected member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ('Dream Lover', 'Splish Splash', 'If I Were A Carpenter') a member of the Songwriters Hall of Fame, a successful record producer, an Oscar nominated actor and a strong supporter of the American Heart Association. Bobby was married to actress Sandra Dee from 1960-1967. They had one son, Dodd, born in December 1961. As a result of complications from a rheumatic heart, Bobby's life was tragically cut short in 1973.
Darin's mother, Vanina Cassotto, had given birth to him when she was 16, and as a result, her parents raised Darin as though he were their son while Vanina was presented off as his elder sister. Darin did not learn the truth about his parentage until he was 32.

The Good Life
Bobby Darin Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Seems to be the ideal
Yes, the good life let's you hide
All the sadness you feel.
You won't really fall in love,
For you can't take the chance
So be honest with yourself,
It's the good life
To be free and explore the unknown,
Like the heartaches
When you learn you must face them alone.
Please remember, I still love you,
And in case you don't know,
Well, just wake up,
Kiss the good life "hello".
In Bobby Darin's song "The Good Life," he paints a picture of a carefree and joyous lifestyle that many people aspire to lead. He suggests that this ideal lifestyle helps people to escape from their inner turmoil and sadness. The song starts on a happy note, with Darin singing about the good life that everyone longs for. He says that the good life is full of fun and appears to be perfect, it makes you happy and allows you to forget all your sorrows.
However, as the lyrics continue, Darin reveals that this good life is only a facade, an escape from feeling pain and sadness. In the next verse, he tells his audience that falling in love requires taking the risk of emotional pain, and therefore it's not a chance worth taking. He encourages people to be honest with themselves and not to pretend to feel love when they don't. It's better to live a life free of emotional entanglements and explore the unknown, as heartbreak often leads to facing it alone.
Darin concludes his song by expressing his love for someone, in case they don't know. He suggests that the good life might be a good way to escape reality, but it cannot replace genuine relationships and human connections. It's a poignant reminder of the importance of being true to oneself and embracing the people and emotions that make life worth living.

One heck of a entertainer. A life cut way to soon. RIP Mr. Darin. Remember one thing he was one of the first Emmy winners, in the late 50s. When the emmys started.
