Darin was a very special and talented entertainer. He was a Grammy award winning singer ('Mack The Knife'), a respected member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ('Dream Lover', 'Splish Splash', 'If I Were A Carpenter') a member of the Songwriters Hall of Fame, a successful record producer, an Oscar nominated actor and a strong supporter of the American Heart Association. Bobby was married to actress Sandra Dee from 1960-1967. They had one son, Dodd, born in December 1961. As a result of complications from a rheumatic heart, Bobby's life was tragically cut short in 1973.
Darin's mother, Vanina Cassotto, had given birth to him when she was 16, and as a result, her parents raised Darin as though he were their son while Vanina was presented off as his elder sister. Darin did not learn the truth about his parentage until he was 32.

The Other Half Of Me
Bobby Darin Lyrics

The other half of me
The other half of me I've yet to meet
One special someone
Whose heart has a similar leaning
And if she were right for me
Day and night for me would have meaning
The other half of me
That unknown quantity
That unseen destiny
Could make me complete
Is there a chart for the heart, or a graph?
Will we meet on the street with a laugh?
Will we know one another if I ever meet my other half?
The other half of me...
Bobby Darin's "The Other Half of Me" is a poignant ballad about the search for one's better half. The song is introspective and soul-searching while maintaining a sense of hopeful expectancy. The opening lyric declares that there is, in fact, another half of the singer that needs to be fulfilled, eventually leading to someone special with a similar heart. The song's gentle melody conveys the sense of longing for someone who will bring meaning to the singer's life.
The second verse of the song highlights the qualities that the singer is seeking in their special someone. This person should have a similar heart and a shared understanding of life, making their connection fulfilling and meaningful. The singer realizes that this person is the missing piece in their life, a puzzle that needs to be completed.
The chorus repeats the idea that there has to be someone who is perfect for the singer, someone who could make them feel complete. The lyrics strike a deep chord, resonating with anyone who has ever searched for their soulmate.

One heck of a entertainer. A life cut way to soon. RIP Mr. Darin. Remember one thing he was one of the first Emmy winners, in the late 50s. When the emmys started.
