Darin was a very special and talented entertainer. He was a Grammy award winning singer ('Mack The Knife'), a respected member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ('Dream Lover', 'Splish Splash', 'If I Were A Carpenter') a member of the Songwriters Hall of Fame, a successful record producer, an Oscar nominated actor and a strong supporter of the American Heart Association. Bobby was married to actress Sandra Dee from 1960-1967. They had one son, Dodd, born in December 1961. As a result of complications from a rheumatic heart, Bobby's life was tragically cut short in 1973.
Darin's mother, Vanina Cassotto, had given birth to him when she was 16, and as a result, her parents raised Darin as though he were their son while Vanina was presented off as his elder sister. Darin did not learn the truth about his parentage until he was 32.

While Shepherds Watched Their Flocks
Bobby Darin Lyrics

All seated on the ground
The angel of the Lord came down
And glory shone around
And glory shone around
To you in David's town this day
Is born of David's line
And this shall be the sign
And this shall be the sign
All glory be to God on high
And to the earth be peace
Good will henceforth from Heaven to man
Begin and never cease
Begin and never cease
Bobby Darin's rendition of "While Shepherds Watched Their Flocks" is an interpretation of the classic Christmas carol. The song details the story of the shepherds from the Gospel of Luke who were visited by an angel of the Lord while keeping watch over their flock at night. The angel announced the birth of the Savior, born in David's town and of David's line. The birth of Jesus Christ brought with it a message of peace and good will toward all.
The opening line of the song sets the scene for the story. The shepherds, who were keeping watch over their flocks at night, were visited by an angel of the Lord. The phrase "seated on the ground" emphasizes the humble beginnings of the story. The angel brought with him the glory of the Lord, which shone around the shepherds.
The next verse ties the story to the prophecy of the Old Testament. Jesus Christ, born in David's town and of David's line, was the fulfillment of this prophecy. The angel announces that this newborn Savior is Christ the Lord. The sign of his birth was a baby lying in a manger, which the shepherds were told to go and find.
The final verse declares glory to God and a message of peace and good will toward all. The birth of Jesus Christ, according to the song, marked the beginning of this peace and good will, which would never cease.

One heck of a entertainer. A life cut way to soon. RIP Mr. Darin. Remember one thing he was one of the first Emmy winners, in the late 50s. When the emmys started.
