Autumn of My Life

She brought sunshine where winter winds had blown
Then I took her for my wife in the spring of my life
And she brought me a joy I'd never known
And the years they went by in the spring of my life
And in summer she blessed me with a child
Love continued to grow in the summer of my life
But in the autumn of my years I noticed the tears
And I knew that our life was in the past
Though I tried to pretend, I knew it was the end
For the autumn of my life had come at last
Now what, what do you say to a child of ten?
How do you tell him his daddy's goin' away?
Do I tell him that I reached the autumn of my life
And that he'll understand some winter's day?
Now a rose can't be found on a snow-covered ground
And the sun cannot shine through cloudy skies
But I'm richer, you see, for the years she gave to me
And I'm content in the autumn of my life
The lyrics of the song Autumn Of My Life, by Bobby Goldsboro, tells the story of a man reflecting on the different phases of his life, and how they have affected him. The first verse talks about the spring of his life, when he meets a woman who brings sunshine to his life, and they get married. The second verse talks about the summer of his life, when their love grows, and they have a child. The last verse is about the autumn of his life, when he realizes that their life together is coming to an end. Although he tries to pretend that everything is fine, he knows that he has reached his final season. He is left with the difficult task of having to explain to his son why he must leave him.
The lyrics suggest that life is a cycle with different seasons or phases. The seasons represent the different stages of life, which are characterized by different emotions, experiences and challenges. The song suggests that life is short and that we should cherish the moments we have with loved ones, as they may not last forever.
