That I tried in every way
To hold you and kiss you and love you and keep you till my dying day
You just laughed
And said you found somebody new
And you didn't need all the things I could do
Now you found out that your new love
You say that you're gonna forget him and you're gonna come back to me
Well things have changed
And I've found me somebody new
Someone to make me forget about you
And I'm telling you
That it's too late to say you're sorry
It's too late to say you're mine
I have found myself a new love
And I'm going to make her mine
It's too late
It's too late
Many days I tried to call you
Many nights I spent alone
Everyone knew that I loved you but you had a love of your own
But now that it's gone
You think you can come back to me
But I'm not the same fool that I used to be
And you're gonna see
That it's too late to say you're sorry
It's too late to say you're mine
I have found myself a new love
And I'm going to make her mine
It's too late
It's too late
To say you're mine
It's too late to say you're sorry
It's too late to say you're mine
I have found myself a new love
And I'm going to make her mine
It's too late to say you're sorry
It's too late to say you're mine
I have found myself a new love
And I'm going to make her mine
The song It's Too Late by Bobby Goldsboro is a heartbreak anthem about moving on from a lost love. The singer begins by recalling how he tried to hold onto and love someone until his dying day, only for that person to leave him for someone else. The singer now has someone new in their life, and the former lover has come back, seeking forgiveness and reconciliation. However, the singer is no longer the same person they once were and has moved on. The message of the song is simple: when someone leaves you for someone else, don't wait around for them to come back because it may be too late.
The lyrics of It's Too Late convey a sense of betrayal, heartbreak, and self-respect. The lines "You just laughed, And said you found somebody new, And you didn't need all the things I could do" show how the singer's former lover disrespected their love and care. Later, in the stanza "But now that it's gone, You think you can come back to me, But I'm not the same fool that I used to be," the singer shows that they have learned from their past and will not be taken for granted. The song speaks to anyone who has been treated poorly and has finally found the strength to move on.

I remember when I told you
I reminisce about the time when I expressed my affection towards you
That I tried in every way
I tried everything in my capacity
To hold you and kiss you and love you and keep you till my dying day
I wanted to hold, kiss and love you forever
You just laughed
You responded with derision
And said you found somebody new
You informed me that you found someone else
And you didn't need all the things I could do
You suggested that you didn't require me anymore
Now you found out that your new love
Presently, you have realized that your new lover
Isn't true like he should be
Isn't honest like he should be
You say that you're gonna forget him and you're gonna come back to me
You claim that you will forget him and return to me
Well things have changed
However, things have transformed
And I've found me somebody new
I discovered someone new
Someone to make me forget about you
Somebody who can make me forget you
And I'm telling you
I am notifying you
That it's too late to say you're sorry
It's too late to apologize

You can't claim me as yours anymore
I have found myself a new love

Many days I tried to call you
I tried to call you several times
Many nights I spent alone

Everyone knew that I loved you but you had a love of your own
Everyone knew that I loved you, but you were preoccupied with your own lover
But now that it's gone
Now that it's over
You think you can come back to me
You believe that you can return to me
But I'm not the same fool that I used to be
But I'm not the naive person I was before
And you're gonna see
And you will realize
That it's too late to say you're sorry
It's too late to apologize
It's too late to say you're mine
You can't claim me as yours anymore
