His single "Itchy Twitchy Feeling," which was covered by his former band soon after it began attracting radio airplay, hit the U.S. charts, reaching #5 on the Black Singles chart and #25 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1958. Hendricks's only other charting single, "Psycho," was a novelty song depicting a psychiatrist talking with a patient. Psycho peaked at #73 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1960. New York City disc jockey Dr. Jive (Tommy Smalls) was the voice of the psychiatrist on "Psycho."
From 1961, off and on, through 2008, Bobby Hendricks worked as lead singer with Bill Pinkney's Original Drifters and appeared with them on PBS in the Doo Wop 51 television broadcast and Doo Wop Love Songs, singing "Stand By Me" with Bill Pinkney, Charlie Thomas, and Ben E. King.

I'm crazy, crazy for feeling so blue
I knew you'd love me as long as you wanted
And then someday you'd leave me for somebody new
Worry, why do I let myself worry?
Wondering what in the world did I do?
Crazy for thinking that my love could hold you
And I'm crazy for loving you
Crazy for thinking that my love could hold you
I'm crazy for trying and crazy for crying
And I'm crazy for loving you
Bobby Hendricks's song "Psycho" tells the tale of a man who is so deeply in love with a woman that it has driven him to madness. The song begins with the lines "Crazy, I'm crazy for feeling so lonely. I'm crazy, crazy for feeling so blue." These opening lyrics set the tone for the rest of the song, which focuses on the singer's obsession with his love for this woman.
Throughout the rest of the song, the singer reflects on the ways in which his love has affected him. He wonders why he allows himself to worry and become so consumed with his feelings, even though he knows that his love for her is not guaranteed to last. He acknowledges his own craziness, both for thinking that his love could hold her and for trying to make a relationship work that is ultimately doomed to failure.
"Psycho" is a powerful reminder of the way that love can drive us to extremes. The singer's struggles to come to terms with his own emotions and the futility of his love make for a compelling and emotional listen. Ultimately, the song serves as a cautionary tale about the dangers of obsession and the importance of maintaining perspective in matters of the heart.

Yes, it WAS regarded as strange in its very brief day; but Bobby and Clyde were just warming up for the post 1990 period.

I love that the name of the new girl he finds is "Sue"—the same as his record label. As far as I'm aware, there were no "Jane" records, but if they'd named the previous girlfriend "Jamie" it could have worked!

I’m watching a video about some guys from Canada exploring an abandoned Thai restaurant. They come across an autographed photo of a man named Bobby Hendricks. I’ve never heard of him and look him up on Wikipedia. The article mentions a novelty song he sang called “Psycho”. I decide to look for it on YouTube and here I am.

No, it's Hendrix. Bobby was the last vocalist to replace Clyde in the original Drifters before the entire group was fired. Listen to their original version of "Drip Drop" and you'll see.

@Jack Bletcher No it's Hendricks!

@Sonofadeadbeat Sorry, my bad. I actually know that. The only other Hendrix I can think of was Nona.
