Tenor saxophonist Bobby Moore first put the group together in 1952, while he was stationed at Fort Benning, Georgia; they toured the south playing at military events and clubs for a few years. When he moved to Montgomery in 1961, Moore put together a new group, featuring his son, Larry Moore (saxophone), Chico Jenkins (vocals, guitar), Marion Sledge (guitar), Joe Frank (bass), Clifford Laws (keyboards), and John Baldwin, Jr. (drums). They did local Alabama gigs and played behind national touring acts such as Sam Cooke and Ray Charles before signing to Checker Records in 1966. After recording at Fame Studios, they released their first single, "Searching For My Love", which hit #27 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart[1] and sold more than one million copies.[2] A second single, "Try My Love Again", just barely cracked the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at #97,[1] and a third, "Chained to Your Heart" hit the R&B chart for what would be the group's last time.[2] In 1969, Checker released their last single, "Your Love and My Love Together", and then released the group.
The Rhythm Aces continued to perform as a group in Alabama with a constantly shifting lineup into the 2000s. Bobby Moore died of kidney failure on 1 February 2006, and his son, Larry Moore, became the group's leader.

Searchin', searchin' for my baby, yes I am
Searchin', searchin' for my baby
I'm searchin', searchin' for my love
I'm searchin' for the one I adore
If I find her you know I will
I'll never, never let her go no, no, no, no
I'll never, never let her go, now, baby
I love you, I need you
I need you by my side
For my love, for my true love
I'll never, never never hide, now, baby, no, no, no, no
No, no, no, no
I'll never, never never hide, no no
I wonder I wonder why
You had to leave me this way
I'm sorry, darling that I made you cry
Forgive me, love, for the things I've done to you
Come along, come along
Come along, give me one more try
Searchin', baby
I'm searchin', searchin' for my love
I'm searchin' for the one I adore
And if I find her
I'll never, never let her go, no no
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no
I'll never, never let her go
[Repeat to Fade:]
(Searchin', searchin' for my baby)
The lyrics of Bobby Moore's song, "Searching For My Love," express his pursuit of his lost love. The singer acknowledges his desperate state, confessing he searches earnestly for his lover. He recognizes that his love is one-of-a-kind and promises never to let her go once he finds her. The singer adds that he cannot hide his love anymore; he needs his lover by his side, vowing to make things right and giving their relationship one last chance.
The song's lyrics depict a sense of vulnerability and hope. The singer's cry for help is evident in the repeated lines, "Searchin', searchin' for my baby, yes, I am." He recognizes his faults and seeks to make amends with his past lover, apologizing for the things he did. The song highlights the importance of love and how it can make someone feel lost within the absence of it.

This song came out when I was a little girl, but you never hear it anymore. Great song. It’s so good to hear it again.

I'm white, and now old, but I was into this song back in the day as much as anyone. This is the heart of soul right here, as deep as it gets, a simply awesome, wonderful song.

My son passed away 25 years ago in a horrific car accident. He had no knowledge of this song but he had his favorites. When I hear them I'm taken back to a painful time. God bless you.
