Something New To Do
Bobby Sheen Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
To pass the time of day
A way to spend my time
To keep you off my mind
Watching the clouds in the sky
Slowly drifting by
Like feeding the birds in the park
And counting the stars after dark
Something new to do
To keep my mind off you
Something new to do
It's so hard
When youβ²re feeling blue
I try walking in the streets
But I only got time for you
Travelling in the same direction
And winding back up where I began
Watching the clouds in the sky
Slowly drifting by
Like feeding the birds in the park
And counting the stars after dark
And searching for
Something new to do
To keep my mind off you
Something new to do
It's so hard
When you're feeling blue
Oh oh oo
Something new to do (Something new to do)
To keep my mind off you (Keep it off of you)
Iβ²ve got to find something new to do (Something new to do)
To keep my mind off you (Keep it off of you)
Something

To keep my mind off you

Something new to do
The lyrics to Bobby Sheen's "Something New To Do" are about trying to move on from a past relationship with the help of various distractions. The singer describes different activities he does to take his mind off his ex-lover such as watching the clouds, feeding birds in the park, counting stars in the dark, and walking the streets, but finds that he cannot escape thoughts of her. The repetition of "something new to do" emphasizes the desperation of wanting to fill the void that his ex-lover's absence has left in his life. The lyrics suggest that the pain of heartbreak is not easily forgotten and finding new things to do might serve as a temporary measure to cope with the pain.
Overall, the song is relatable to anyone who has ever been through a tough break-up and struggled to shake off the memories of a past relationship. Even though the lyrics are simple, they offer a thoughtful insight into the resilience of the human spirit and the ability to find hope in the most mundane things.
