Blue Moon
Bobby Vinton Lyrics

(Blue moon)
(Blue moon)

Blue moon
You saw me standing alone
Without a dream in my heart,
Without a love of my own
Blue moon
You knew just what I was there for
You heard me saying a prayer for
Someone I really could care for

And then, there suddenly appeared before me
The only one my arms will ever hold
I heard somebody whisper, "Please adore me"
And when I looked, the moon had turned to gold

Blue moon
Now, I'm no longer alone
Without a dream in my heart,
Without a love of my own

And then, there suddenly appeared before me
The only one my arms will ever hold
I heard somebody whisper, "Please adore me"
And when I looked, the moon had turned to gold

Blue moon
Now, I'm no longer alone
Without a dream in my heart,
Without a love of my own

Overall Meaning

The song "Blue Moon" is a classic love ballad that explores the themes of loneliness and yearning for companionship. The singer begins by addressing the titular blue moon, a rare occurrence that signifies a moment of unique beauty, turning to this celestial entity as a confidant of sorts. The first verse sets the scene of the singer standing alone, with no dreams or love to call their own. This opening paints a picture of a hopeless romantic who is longing for a sense of purpose in life.

As the singer continues to address the blue moon, they reveal that the moon knows why they are standing there- it is because they are hoping to find someone who they can truly care for. It is through the moon's light that the singer makes their prayers and wishes for love. Suddenly, the singer sees someone in front of them, the only one they will ever hold. The person whispers to the singer, urging them to love them, and in that moment, the moon turns to gold. The last two verses repeat the earlier lyrics, highlighting that the blue moon has brought the singer the love they had been seeking, and they are no longer alone, finally able to have dreams and love in their heart.

Oh yes!! One of the best renditions of Blue Moon in my opinion. I remember seeing An American Werewolf in London at the Drive-In back in 1981. It was a double feature with Halloween II. I was only 9 and both scared the living shit outta me!!

Haaaa! Haaaaa! Still does...but in a fun way.

You’re super lucky, that’s an incredible double feature

The Dog Father

In So Cal, they would do a triple feature at the drive in. I remember when I saw this, it played with "Blow Out" at the time. I was 11.

Gabriel

How did they let a 9 year old watch these movies?

Surham Cheese

Me too this song reminds of American werewolf in London ❤❤❤

Sytse Buwalda

Heard it for the first time when I was 17 at the cinema with my girlfriend. An American werewolf in London was the movie, and we were so in shock by it that our walk back home (3 miles in the country with full moon!! and no people or houses around) must have been a world record!! Finally coming home we went up to our room, blocked the door and cuddled up together ;-) Those were the days
