L-O-N-E-L-Y
Bobby Vinton Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Lonely Lonely
The "L" is for the laughter, we shared from the start
"O" is for the only girl in my heart
The "N" is for the night, you told me we were though
For you had found somebody new

"E" is for the end of my world, a place I shared with only you
Empty, my world is dark
Loneliness has just begun

The "L" is for the Love that was meant for me only
And "why" Why did you leave me lonely. Lonely

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Bobby Vinton's song L-O-N-E-L-Y describe the experience of a man who has just ended a relationship with the woman he loves. The song is structured around the letters of the word "lonely," with each letter symbolizing a different aspect of the man's experience. The first verse, for example, uses the letter "L" to represent the laughter that the couple shared at the beginning of their relationship. The second verse uses the letter "O" to stand for the woman who was the only one in his heart. The third verse uses the letter "N" to represent the night when she told him they were through, and the final verse uses the letter "Y" to ask why she left him lonely.

The song's chorus, in which Vinton sings the word "lonely" repeatedly, perfectly captures the feeling of isolation and despair that the man is experiencing. The lyrics suggest that he feels a sense of emptiness and darkness, and that his world has been shattered by the loss of the woman he loves. Although the song is sad and melancholy, Vinton's beautiful voice, combined with the gentle orchestration, makes it a beautiful and moving piece of music.

LAYRICS
Lonely, I'm Mr. Lonely
I have nobody for my own
Now I am so lonely, I'm Mr. Lonely
Wish I had someone to call on the phone
Now I'm a soldier, a lonely soldier
Away from home through no wish of my own
That's why I'm lonely, I'm Mr. Lonely
I wish that I could go back home
Letters, never a letter
I get no letters in the mail
I've been forgotten, yes, forgotten
Oh, how I wonder, how is it I failed
Now I'm a soldier, a lonely soldier
Away from home through no wish of my own
That's why I'm lonely, I'm Mr. Lonely
I wish that I could go back home

Song is 10x sadder when you realise is about soldiers in the trenches who don’t receive any letters from people back home. They’ve been forgotten. And a lot of them died feeling like that

@JoseRamirez-ew7vq

@devogrant2817
