My Melody of Love
Bobby Vinton Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I'm lookin' for a place to go so I can be all alone
From thoughts and memories
So that when the music plays I don't go back to the days
When love was you and me

Oh, oh moja droga jacie kocham
Means that I love you so
Moja droga jacie kocham
More than you'll ever know
Kocham ciebie calem serce
Love you with all my heart
Return and always be
My melody of love

Wish I had a place to hide all my sorrow, all my pride
I just can't get along
'cause the love once so fine keeps on hurtin' all the time
Where did I go wrong?

Oh, oh moja droga jacie kocham
Means that I love you so
Moja droga jacie kocham
More than you'll ever know
Kocham ciebie calem serce
Love you with all my heart
Return and always be
My melody of love

Oh, oh, {"la-la's" for the first line of chorus}
My melody of love
{"la-la's" for the first line of chorus}
My melody of love
{"la-la's" for the first line of chorus}

My melody of love

Overall Meaning

The song “My Melody of Love” by Bobby Vinton is a poignant and bittersweet expression of lost love and heartbreak. The song’s narrator is searching for a place where he can be alone and forget the memories and thoughts of his past relationship, which causes him to relive his lost love every time he hears music playing. The refrain, “Oh, oh moja droga jacie kocham” (which means “My dear, I love you” in Polish) serves as a reminder of the passion that once existed in the relationship and highlights the depth of the singer’s feelings of love and loss.

The second verse of the song suggests that the singer is unable to cope with the pain and sorrow of his broken heart. He wishes he had a place to hide away from his sorrow and pride, as his once-lovely relationship continues to hurt and torment him, leaving him wondering where it all went wrong. The refrain is repeated once again, emphasizing the depth of his love and longing for his lost love. In the final chorus, the melody takes precedence, giving us an image of how music is a balm for even the most heartbreaking of memories.

I’m 32 years old today, and I shared a birthday with my grandmother. She would have been 90 today. Her parents and my grandfathers parents were from Poland. This was one of the first songs I learned as a child. My grandfather passed away in 2012, and she passed in 2022. I listen to this song every year on their birthdays and it chokes me up to no end. The memories come flooding. Thanks so much for posting this because this is the one I click every year.

I'm a Polish person born and living in Poland my whole life. Never been to the US, but it's so heartwarming to see this many people of Polish descent, who are proud of their roots. I'm 28 now, but even I know this song basically since always, so I can only imagine how big this song was back in 70's

Not a Vinton fan, but found a Czech polka Melody of Love Polka. In Texas, there is a retired band- Vrazels Polka Band. I am half Czech, born in USA. The polka version is faster and more my liking. Currently I'm in Russia, and only have seen Poland thru a tour bus window, but will visit Poland someday!!! It seemed very nice and inviting!
