Bojibian (pronounced: bo-JIB-ee-an) originated in Philadelphia in early-200… Read Full Bio ↴Bojibian (pronounced: bo-JIB-ee-an) originated in Philadelphia in early-2008 with members hailing from Washington, DC, Connecticut and Japan. The band consists of Stephen Lorek, Niles Weiss, James Scullion and Dylan Mulcahy. Stylistically, the group draws from many different influences, at times sounding like some sort of post-modern mash-up of pop, post-punk, classic rock, post-grunge, Southern rock, and arena rock…or something like that.

Even though they are a newly-formed band with no member older than age 22, the guys in Bojibian had been developing their chops for several years up until this point. In fact, both Stephen Lorek and Dylan Mulcahy were part of the short-lived pop/rock band, Crystal City back in 2006, which also featured Grahame Lesh – son of renowned bassist Phil Lesh from the Grateful Dead. It was during this period that they spent two weeks on one of the biggest summer tours of 2006 as a side-stage act for Phil Lesh & Friends with Trey Anastasio and Mike Gordon of Phish-fame joined by the Benevento/Russo Duo. All of this took place after the guys spent a month in San Francisco with the Lesh family.

With an arsenal of songs already in the demo phase, Bojibian is preparing to release its debut record this summer and will be playing many more shows in the mid-Atlantic region and beyond…plenty more to come!

Overall Meaning
