… Read Full Bio ↴Bold may refer to the following groups:
1) youth crew hardcore
Bold is a late 1980s youth crew hardcore band from Westchester County, New York, which along with bands like Youth Of Today and Side By Side were a part of the Youth Crew, and an influence in the late 80's straight edge hardcore scene. The band progressed to a more rock-oriented sound in its later years.
2) psych garage obscurity
Bold released one obscure, self-titled psychedelic album on ABC in 1969, though earlier they'd released two hard garage rock singles on Cameo and Dynovoice (one of them credited to Steve Walker & the Bold). One of those singles, the group original "Gotta Get Some," was very much like Paul Revere & the Raiders at their toughest, and became a favorite among '60s garage collectors after its inclusion on Pebbles, Vol. 9. Another -- a less distinctive cover of "The Train Kept a Rollin'," showed up on Pebbles, Vol. 10. By the time of their ABC album, they'd gone psychedelic, and dropped the "the" from their "the Bold" billing. Produced by a young Bill Szymczyk (later to produce the Eagles, the Who, and several other stars), Bold is a minor but respectable and diverse LP, mixing harmony vocals, classically-influenced organ, and some of the folk-rock sensibility of Buffalo Springfield in that band's harder-rocking moments.
Bold grew out of the Esquires, who formed at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, MA, where one of their friends was the young, then-university student Taj Mahal. The Esquires released a pretty forgettable, early British Invasion-influenced single before changing their personnel, changing their name to Bold, and releasing their Cameo and Dynovoice singles in 1966 and 1967, respectively. Although they were popular regionally, opening for stars like Mahal, Big Brother & the Holding Company, and Jimi Hendrix, their ABC album didn't break them to a bigger audience, and they disbanded shortly afterward. Lead guitarist Bob LaPalm and drummer Tim Griffin formed Clean Living, who put out a couple of albums on Vanguard in the early 1970s, and Griffin briefly played drums for James Taylor. Everything released by Bold -- including the ABC album, the two pre-ABC singles, and the Esquires single -- is included on the Misty Lane CD compilation Lullaby Opus Four.

Bold Lyrics

I know somehting deeper must lie inside
The goals I follow will lead me to where
I must travel the distance so I can get near
Time to get my goals in sight
End the ignorance, see the light
Search will take me, it must not break me
Down
Living in confusion that surrounds me
Destroying my ideals, form what I see around me
But I know I must find the strenght from within
From where my search begins
Time to get my goals in sight
End the ignorance, see the light
Search will take me, it must not break me
Down
The search begins with finding out
Just what it is that life's about
Searching I've tried to look inside
Watching and watching, conflicting and debating
Spent my time, searching my mind
I see my reflection and look past it
I've made my own corrections as I see fit
The lyrics of "Search" by Bold delve into the internal struggle to find one's purpose and navigate through the confusion and chaos of life. The first few lines suggest that there's more to life than what meets the eye, and that one needs to search within to find it. The singer acknowledges that the road ahead is long, and it requires perseverance to reach their destination. The lyrics are infused with a sense of determination and hope that if they follow the right path, they will eventually find what they're looking for.
The second verse talks about the despair and disillusionment that comes with living in a world that seems to contradict one's ideals. Despite the confusing and often disheartening nature of the world around them, the singer must find the strength and resolve to embark on their quest. The chorus repeats the idea that the search must continue, and it cannot break them down.
The bridge section emphasizes that the search starts with introspection and understanding what life is truly about. The final lines suggest that the singer has been introspective, confronted their flaws, and corrected them to be a better person.
Overall, "Search" by Bold is an introspective and inspiring song that encourages the listener to keep searching for meaning and purpose despite the challenges they may face along the way.
