Bon Iver Lyrics

I'm up in the woods, I'm down on my mind
I'm building a sill to slow down the time
I'm up in the woods, I'm down on my mind
I'm building a sill to slow down the time

I'm up in the woods, I'm down on my mind
I'm building a sill to slow down the time
I'm up in the woods, I'm down on my mind
I'm building a sill to slow down the time
I'm up in the woods, I'm down on my mind
I'm building a sill to slow down the time
I'm up in the woods, I'm down on my mind
I'm building a sill to slow down the time

I'm up in the woods
I'm up in the woods
I'm down on my mind
I'm down on my mind
I'm building a sill to slow down the time
I'm up in the woods, I'm down on my mind
I'm building a sill to slow down the time

I'm up in the woods, I'm down on my mind
I'm building a sill to slow down the time
I'm up in the woods, I'm down on my mind
I'm building a sill to slow down the time

I'm up in the woods, I'm down on my mind
I'm building a sill to slow down the time

This is how auto tune should be used: for beautiful works of art like this. Bon Iver is simply genius.

@AMC-Imp Pharell actually is an amazing singer without auto tune though, he's a legend among musicians and anyone that knows his career history. He's sung and made some of the most popular songs on the radio, and most people didn't know it until HAPPY dropped, lol. The man made an album for Jay-Z in the 90s!

This song is still, to this day, the most beautiful use of auto tune that I've ever heard.
I'm so glad Kanye recognized the beauty and learned from him, but I have to say, Bon Iver is a master at this effect.
It reminds me of the first time I heard Imogen Heap. Changed the way I view music forever. Beautiful.

@AMC-Imp Daft Punk uses a polyvox/vocoder and Bon Iver uses the Harmony Engine lmao but for sure

@Cairo Elliott yes Kanye West used autotune in the same way on 808s and heartbreak to make him sound robotic he distances himself from the emotions he has to face

TheIndieGamesNL

Its not just autotune allot is done with Harmony Engine a vst made by Antares (who also invented Autotune) which creates those deep autotune choirs that give it that bon iver sound

Possibly unpopular opinion: this is one of the most underrated songs of the past 15 years

@Felix Sommer shit, I oughta be apologizing as well. I was in a pretty shite mood when I wrote this so I kinda went sassy on ya. Been thinking about that all night, feeling kinda awful treating a stranger like that. But I’m glad it worked out! And what you said about art IS right and about this being a little try hard.

But if I’m being honest, I think that try hard nature is why I like it so much. This album was made while Bon Iver banished himself to a cabin, all to wallow in the despair coming from the break up in his relationship. It feels like he literally put his soul into this song, over dramatic melancholy and all.

That passion is what REALLY gets me going, and I suppose I do have bias for this song because it’s the first instance where I heard auto correct actually being used in a way other than just covering up shitty singing 😂

I’m glad we could talk like this! And if it helps, your trolling ain’t shitty at all. I mean, look at me! I fell for it, hook line and sinker

Felix Sommer

@Justin Chalifoux sorry man, I was just trolling (badly). Even though I really don't actually like this track, I truly think it's a bit too tryhard-artistic, and I do like T-Pain's autotune use better. But obviously you're right, art is always a bit subjective. (although there is definitely an objective component to the quality of art too.)
