In 1984 and 1985, Bon Jovi released their first two albums and their debut single "Runaway" managed to crack the Top 40. In 1986, the band achieved widespread success and global recognition with their third album, Slippery When Wet, which sold over 20 million copies and included three Top 10 singles, two of which reached No. 1 ("You Give Love a Bad Name" and "Livin' on a Prayer") Their fourth album, New Jersey (1988), was also very successful, selling over 10 million copies and featuring five Top 10 singles (a record for a glam metal album), two of which reached No. 1 ("Bad Medicine" and "I'll Be There for You"). After the band toured and recorded extensively during the late 1980s, culminating in the 1988–1990 New Jersey Tour, Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora released successful solo albums in 1990 and 1991, respectively.
In 1992, the band returned with the double-platinum Keep the Faith. This was followed by their biggest-selling and longest-charting single "Always" (1994) and the album These Days (1995), which proved to be a bigger success in Europe than in the United States, producing four Top Ten singles in the United Kingdom. Following a second hiatus, their 2000 album Crush, particularly the lead single, "It's My Life", successfully introduced the band to a younger audience, and the band considered this their comeback album. The band followed up with Bounce in 2002. The platinum albums Have a Nice Day (2005) and Lost Highway (2007) saw the band incorporate elements of country music into some of the songs, including the 2006 single "Who Says You Can't Go Home", which won the band a Grammy Award and became the first single by a rock band to reach No. 1 on the country charts. The Circle (2009) marked a return to the band's rock sound. The band also enjoyed great success touring, with both the 2005–2006 Have a Nice Day Tour and 2007–2008 Lost Highway Tour ranking among the Top 20 highest-grossing concert tours of the 2000s. After recording and releasing Because We Can in 2013, lead guitarist Richie Sambora left the band just before an April concert during the supporting tour to spend more time with his family. The band released their first studio album without Sambora, Burning Bridges, in 2015 and the follow-up album This House Is Not for Sale in 2016, the tour for which encompassed 2017–2019. Their most recent album 2020 (2020) was re-worked to include songs inspired by the COVID-19 pandemic and George Floyd protests; its supporting tour was delayed to 2022.
Bon Jovi consisting of frontman Jon Bon Jovi, drummer Tico Torres, keyboardist David Bryan, lead guitarist Phil X, bassist Hugh McDonald and guitarist John Shanks have unveiled a video for the lead single “Legendary” from their upcoming studio album Forever, which will be released on June 7, 2024. Forever is the follow up to Bon Jovi‘s studio album 2020, which was released back on October 2, 2020.
Bon Jovi has released 15 studio albums, five compilations and three live albums. They have sold more than 120 million records worldwide, making them one of the best-selling American rock bands, and performed more than 2,700 concerts in over 50 countries for more than 34 million fans. Bon Jovi was inducted into the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2006, and into the US Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2018. The band received the Award of Merit at the American Music Awards in 2004, and Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora were inducted into Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2009.

Living In Sin
Bon Jovi Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Held off the night 'til the sunrise
Saw the world through a child's eyes
Been in love for a long time
You and me tore the walls down
And built them up in a new town
I used to sing for the whole crowd
Castles may crumble
And fall to the sea
Yeah, we're living in paradise
Yeah, we're living in paradise
Seasons come and seasons go
We planted seeds and we watched them grow
We wrote the book on the highs and lows
We figured out what we didn't know
You give me faith when I'm losing hope
We may have bent but we never broke
The rain can fall and the wind will blow
The sun will shine anywhere we go
I can't remember
Before you and me
Yeah, we're living in paradise
Yeah, we're living in paradise
Summer's gone, it's been a long September
Nothing matters long as we're together
Yeah, we're living in paradise
Come alive, come alive, come alive, come alive
Come alive, come alive, come alive, come alive
From the embers we will rise
And we'll light up the sky
Yeah, we're living in paradise
Yeah, we're living in paradise
Summer's gone, it's been a long September
Nothing matters long as we're together
Yeah, we're living in paradise
Living in paradise
Living in paradise
The lyrics to "Living in Sin" by Bon Jovi speaks about a relationship between two people who are in love but are seen as living in sin because they are not married. The singer expresses how he doesn't see the need for a license or for a preacher to validate their love for each other. He doesn't need any materialistic things like diamonds or a new bride, all he needs is the love of his partner, and for them to look him in the eye.
The chorus expresses the internal conflict and external pressure the couple faces. The singer asks his partner if it's just them against the world or if the relationship is just a product of the world they live in. He believes that they are living in love, but society sees them as living in sin. The song presents the societal norms, the constant disapproval one may receive from society, and questions whether their love and relationship is valid without societal approvals.
In conclusion, "Living in Sin" by Bon Jovi challenges the societal expectations of relationships and love, as the couple in the song navigate their love for each other amidst societal pressure and disapproval.
Line by Line Meaning
I don't need no license
I don't require permission or approval
To sign on no line
To commit to anything or anyone
And I don't need no preacher
I don't require a wedding ceremony or any other religious authority
To tell me you're mine
To declare that we belong to each other
I don't need no diamonds
I don't require material wealth or extravagance
I don't need no new bride
I don't require a traditional, societal concept of marriage
I just need you, baby
All I truly need is your love and presence
To look me in the eye
To connect with me emotionally and honestly
I know they have a hard time
I'm aware that others disapprove or don't understand our unconventional relationship
And your Daddy don't approve
Your father strongly objects to our choices
But I don't need you Daddy
I refuse to be controlled or influenced by your father's opinions
Telling us what we should do
Dictating our decisions or actions is not his place
Now there's a million questions
There are many doubts or uncertainties surrounding our situation
I could ask about our lives
I could inquire about many aspects of our relationship
But I only need one answer
There's only one thing that matters to me
To get me thought the night
To ease my fears or worries so I can rest easy
So, I say Baby, can you tell me
I ask you a crucial question, my love
Just where we fit in
What is the nature of our love and relationship?
I call it love
I believe that our feelings and commitment constitute true love
They call it living in sin
Some people condemn or criticize our relationship as immoral
Is it you and me
Are we the only ones who can understand our bond?
Or just this world we live in
Is society and its conventions the real issue?
I say we're living on love
Our love is enough to make us happy and fulfilled
They say we're living in sin
Others claim that our relationship is morally wrong or unacceptable
Is it right for both our parents
Are our parents' opinion and behavior justified or acceptable?
Who fight it out most nights
Whose conflict and disagreements may harm us and our love
Then pray for God's forgiveness
Who make peace with their guilt through religious confession or prayer
When they both turn out the lights
When they hide their true feelings and intentions from each other and us
Or wear that ring of diamonds
Who display material symbols of their relationship while ignoring their emotional problems
When you heart is made of stone
When your feelings for me are cold and insincere
You can talk but still say nothing
You can communicate with me but fail to reveal your true self
You stay together but alone
You keep up appearances but lack intimacy and understanding in your relationship
Or is it right to hold you
Is expressing our love physically the most natural and honest way to connect?
And kiss your lips goodnight
And share a romantic moment before parting for the night
They say the promise is forever
They insist that a binding, legal commitment is necessary for lasting love
If you sign it on the dotted line
If you agree to the traditional, expected forms of marriage and commitment
I don't know where to begin
I'm uncertain or overwhelmed about how to navigate our complicated, opposed situation
Living in sin
Our unconventional relationship is perceived as shameful or sinful by some

Hey I recently found out that the new Bon Jovi album, Forever, is due to be released June 7. The first single, Legendary, is already out. ⭐️💯
@brianneeley6366
Graduated 1988 and this one brings back all the memories. So happy to have grown up in the 80’s. The best decade for rock music. Hairbands rule 👊🏼
@adriantrusca1245
You mean comercial radio pop rock that housekeepers shake their asses to while washing the dishes? Yeah, it's a good thing that thrash, death and black metal were starting to develop in the underground for real metal fans who wanted to be aggressive and avoid this sugary sweet radio shit.
@jdmoncada8205
I adore Richie singing high harmony to Jon. One of my favorite moments of all their songs is this here in the 2nd verse when they sing "when they both turn out the lights." Chills every time.
@jennydeyoung4539
The biggest missing piece is Richie's harmonies and their on stage and sing writing chemistry. I just saw them it still feels empty without Richie there . He was my favorite.
@nicolehein8285
I absolutely agree with you 100% on that. My favorite parts of all their songs are when Richie does what he does so well. 🙂
