Perhaps the group's most important contribution to rap is their speedy, harmonizing flow. While fast rapping has always had a niche in the culture, Bone certainly brought the style to the forefront. In addition, the group's ability to harmonize whilst flowing at top speeds is truly remarkable. Not before nor since has a rapper or rap group sung an a cappella tune without loss of street cred.
Their albums have varied in subject material, with 1994's Creepin on Ah Come Up being heavily influenced by the G-Funk gangsta rap era. E. 1999 Eternal, the group's most successful album, focused primarily on violent criminal activity, but also showed Bone exploring themes of spirituality, and the introduction of the group's trademark "weed songs"-- songs devoted entirely to smoking weed. The group's 1997 album, the Art of War, saw Bone further explore a wide variety of subjects and styles, with even more focus on God and family and an overall more ambient, mellow sound. The group still found time for violent lyrics, though, with a large portion of the album dedicated to what they labeled "clones" who claimed Bone had stolen their quick-tongued rapping style and vice-versa. 2002's Thug World Order album saw a drastic change in subject matter and tone for the group. The lyrics were almost completely void of any violence.
Although 1996 was definitely the peak of their popular appeal, Bone still has a fairly large cult following. Bone Thugs-N-Harmony are the only rap artists ever to have collaborated with late rappers Eazy-E, 2Pac, Big Punisher and The Notorious B.I.G.. Their latest release, Thug Stories, was released September 19, 2006.
Bone Thugs released their new album Strength and Loyalty on May 8, 2007 with production by Swizz Beatz, Kanye West, Lil' Jon, Three 6 Mafia, Big Boi of Outkast, Play-N-Skillz, Jermaine Dupri, Timbaland and Dr. Dre. It will be featuring guest appearances by Jennifer Lopez, Kelly Rowland, The Game, Lil Eazy-E ,Mariah Carey, Akon, Chamillionaire, Twista, Busta Rhymes, Stevie Wonder, Eve, Cassidy, Lil' Recka and DMX. According to the group they have recorded nearly 70 tracks and are in the process of deciding which tracks will appear on the album. Although producer DJ-Uneek helped to launch the band to stardom, he does not appear on the album; rather, handling the majority of the producton is Chicago native LT Hutton, with whom the band has worked on prior recordings. According to Bone, the album will feature all-new vocals from imprisoned member Flesh-N-Bone.
The first single, "Just Vibe", has been released on the radio in Southern California. Bizzy Bone will not be on the album. Bone says that this album will be their best ever. Swizz Beatz will handle most of the production, as the group signed in 2005 to Swizz Beatz' Full Surface Records, and in 2006 to Interscope Records.
As of 2006 to the present, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, especially Krayzie Bone, have continued their strong track record of collaborations and appearances on compilation albums. Krayzie appeare d on Duets: The Final Chapter by The Notorious B.I.G, the soundtrack from the Antonio Banderas movie Take the Lead and on DJ Khaled's new album Listennn... The Album (all of these appearances were credited as Bone Thugs-N-Harmony on the track listings to show the loyalty of the group). Bone Thugs appeared with Lil Eazy-E on the soundtrack to The Game's debut acting movie Waist Deep, and on The Source Presents Fat Tape Vol. 1. The most successful was Krayzie Bone's appearance on Chamillionaire's #1 single Ridin'. Krayzie Bone is featured on the new 2Pac album Pac's Life on the song "Untouchable (Swizz Beatz Remix)," credited as Bone Thugs-N-Harmony.

Nigga get ready for the big payback
Been thuggin' and keepin' the gulley since way back
Lot a niggas been talkin'
They runnin' they mouths barkin'
Runnin' around false
They claimin' they want a weapon to rob us
My record is flawless
My method is lawless
I'm an automatic weapon nigga you just a target
The number one artist from the land of the heartless
Fittin' to get cha, hit cha nigga they couldn't call it
One nigga left and they talkin' about we ain't happenin'
So we had to give that up and make em recognize platinum
Look at everybody rappin' just like I'm rappin'
Niggas got to admit it the bone thugs is the masta
They die, and there's no competition, no competition!
Tear the roof off the mothafucka
I put a boot off in a mothafuckas ass
Still down to blast or clash with anyone of you niggas who start we ain't trippin off of none of you niggas wooo
Leathface the boy is back, with a little bit of action bring it
Rap it sing it
Bust it whateva dog
Whateva ya'll want to do I'm with it wicked wicked
[Chorus]
[Wish Bone]
I done had a mil took a mil blew a mil still in the streets that's how I live I live
I t don't mean a damn thing
Still got a little change believe me comin' in
Shit I pass a nigga seen a lot of niggas point him point him out thats him here
It about to be e with a big cast eat him up
Send him on his way
Kick him in his ass have a nice day
Went the wrong way
Got a lot to say
It can get so murderous murderous
Touchin' us never that bone thug still the crack
Crack and I can't lay back
On the comeback
Spit on these niggas, spit on these niggas
Run up any you niggas, any you niggas won' be no recognizin' niggas
Just one warning impatient one time only OK
Don't repeat myself bad for my health don't want to do that rather spray
Catch me on the wrong day, catch me on the wrong day
Better stay out my way better stay out my face
That's the last thing you wanna do thugs true
See the blues I shoot at you now you?
[Chorus]
[Layzie Bone]
Ya'll know how I feel about fake niggas bitch niggas snitch niggas ain't no love for them
Put a nigga in his place momma crying at the wake that's right that's what a nigga does for them
I play above the rim I play above the rim
With no lames in my circle cause I love to win
With the real ass niggas with the thug in them
And if you talk too much I put a slug in them
Oh no don't play with 'em
Lay gon get 'em if wish don't get em then kray gon' get 'em
Straight up we spit em
With a nine on my side and I slide to the rhythm
Let me slow it down in case you didn't catch my drift
Lift a nigga up out his shoes trigga finga not hesitant fuck it
Let me speed it up hit em like the ammunition comin' from my heata
Ya'll niggas can't see these thugs 17 shots from the nine millimeter
On the creep with the nightvision infrared beams pointed at your dome, can't wait to see a niggas response
When I rip that vest with the teflon teflon
In “9mm,” Bone Thugs-n-Harmony rap about their readiness to use their weapons in self-defense against those seeking to harm them. They assert that they have been “thugging” for a long time and are used to dealing with people who want to talk tough but can’t back it up. The song’s lyrics can be seen as a reflection of the group’s hard upbringing in Cleveland and a commentary on the gun violence and gang culture prevalent in many cities. They also position themselves as superior to other rappers who try to copy their style, claiming that no one else can compete with their music. The chorus, “Go loco with the heata nine millimeter,” is a call to arms, urging listeners to be ready to defend themselves against any threats that may come their way.
The lyrics of “9mm” reveal Bone Thugs-n-Harmony's mindset in 1998 when they recorded the song. However, the song continues to resonate with audiences today, especially in light of the ongoing debates about gun control in the US. The song’s intense beat and stripped-down production highlights the raw emotion and aggression behind the lyrics.
