In 1994 the band was signed to Capitol Records and released an album entitled Stomp Revival in Mid 1995. The band toured with some major acts during 1995-1996, including Bob Seger and Santana. During these touring years the band also featured Jason Dunaway on bass and Mickey Grimm on drums. During early 1996, Kenny Mims left the band and was replaced by former Walk The West fiddle/mandolin player Tramp. The band's relationship with Capitol soured and they split with the label, releasing their second album, "Traveler's Companion" on their own SuperDuperRecordings imprint. Sometime in late 1996, Jason and Mickey left the band, yet Johnson, Ward and Tramp soldiered on as a three piece. Traveler's Companion continued with their brand of self-described "Power Folk" music and featured a guest vocal appearance by fellow alt-country pioneer Lucinda Williams. In mid-1999 Bryan Ward exited the fold and the band recruited Nick Nguyen to handle guitar duties. Bonepony continued to tour the US and Canada with a break-neck schedule of 200 plus dates a year.
Bonepony's current lineup, Scott Johnson, Nicolas Nguyen, and Kenny Wright is responsible for the bands fourth studio CD, Feeling It. The effort pulls the Bonepony sound more towards the electric rock bands of the seventies, while still managing to stomp their way through rural tracks like "Lonely" and "Farewell". Bonepony is currently on tour in support of their live concert DVD Celebration Highway. Filmed at the Belcourt Theater in Nashville, the release captures the band's energetic live show and feature songs from all of their studio releases as well as unreleased songs seldom performed live. Guest musicians Mickey Grimm, Jason Dunaway and Chris Carmichael make Celebration Highway a memorable Bonepony show.

Shine On
Bonepony Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Dogs yapping at me from the back porch
Yes, it's got my attention
So I look out the window, see the sun rising up before the trees
It's like a sentimental postcard and it makes me wanna sing
My oh my, feel so fine
Gotta move along with a beat so strong
And it can't be wrong, everybody Shine On
Room full of kinfolk, paper plates in their hands
A bunch of runnin' round women, just tryin' to do for their man
Yard full of grandkids, playin' just outside
And this one gray haired woman, heart swelled big with pride
My oh my, feel so fine
Front teeth shine like a brand new dime
Gotta move along with a beat so strong
And it can't be wrong, everybody Shine On
You could be perfect starlight
I could be a warm blue moonbeam at night
Smiles
And if the well runs dry
And you find it hard to cry
Don't let it pass you by
Oh, Shine On
A little later in the evening
As the sun goes down
We'll get together on the back porch
And pass the jug around
Maybe do a little pickin'
Get stompin on the floor
Rockin chair starts squeaking
Crys out for more
My oh my, feel so fine
Front teeth shine like a brand new dime
Gotta move along with a beat so strong
And it can't be wrong, everybody Shine On
The opening lyrics of Bonepony's song "Shine On" describe a picturesque morning scene. As the singer sips his coffee, he hears the barking of dogs in the background. When he looks out the window, he sees the sun beaming from behind the trees. The image is so beautiful and inspiring that it makes him want to sing. The chorus encourages everyone to shine on, and the uplifting tone of the song is immediately established. The second verse describes a gathering of family and friends, with women bustling around trying to help one another, and children playing outside. The beauty of this scene is captured in the lines, "And this one gray haired woman, heart swelled big with pride." The singer celebrates the tight-knit community and the simple pleasures that bring them together. In the final verse, we see the scene is now an evening affair, where people gather on the back porch. The mood has changed, but the sense of camaraderie and togetherness remains.
The song's title and chorus, "Shine On," is a message of hope and encouragement. It's a call to celebrate the good things in life, even if there are hardships. It urges people to focus on the bright and positive aspects of life, and not let their struggles get them down. Throughout the song, there is a strong sense of community and connection. The image of family and friends coming together is a powerful reminder of the value of relationships - something that we might sometimes take for granted. Overall, "Shine On" is a song that inspires us to keep going, to keep shining, even when life is tough.
