KirkFogg
Bones Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I was in the tomb, until I moved real sudden
Now If you listen closely, you can hear my diamonds hummin'
I'm used to pocket change, so it's funny gettin' money
Either I'm filling up my lungs, or I'm filling up my tummy
The legends of the hidden temple, 24 carrot emblems
Chain look like old nick, rings lookin' like the incas
Mayans on my diamonds, they admire when we arriving
Whole team fucking cashed, see the sesh up on my eyelids
Gem stones float, while the ash flow down
Know we make our own juice, like we make our own sounds
No free verse, cause I don't do charity
Pistol in my face, crack a smile, there ain't no scaring me
Everybody wanna sound so damn unique
But if I heard your song, I ain't thinkin' bout' the who's he

Bitch I'm thinking turn it down, know you thinking fuck this boy
Go ahead and speak a word, I promise I will love it boy

Overall Meaning

In "KirkFogg," Bones raps about his elevated status and newfound wealth. He begins by describing his previous situation as being in a "tomb" but with a sudden move on his part, he has now hit it big with "diamonds hummin'" in his pocket. Bones explains that he is not used to making so much money and that he is either filling up his lungs or his tummy. The following verse reveals that Bones is referencing his jewelry, which features 24-carat emblems and looks like those worn by old-centered deities like Old Nick or the Incas. Bones then describes the presence of Mayans on his diamonds, admiring him when he arrives, while the "sesh" (short for the Smoke Session, a group of musicians Bones is associated with) is cashing out on the eyelids.

He then emphasizes his uniqueness as an artist by stating that he doesn't do charity; he puts effort into his art and doesn't settle for mediocre work. Bones explains how he's not impressed with artists who try too hard to be unique but fail to engage him with their music. The song ends with him inviting anyone to speak a word, saying he promises to love it.

Overall, Bones' "KirkFogg" is a song about confidence, self-affirmation, and success. The rapper uses his words to depict the steps he has taken in his life to achieve his current status. With references to his wealth, jewellery, Mayans, and artistic persona, he portrays himself as a unique artist in the music industry.

Rotten was the tape that got me into Bones and I can still rap/sing along to every song in it. Granted I am blessed with a good memory, but I realize the merit lies in Bones' ability to put syllables, words, phrases, sentences together in a way that not only do they make perfect sense but they also sound beautiful, like they roll out of your mouth and ride the sick beats perfectly.

Love you Bones.
