Nightmare
Bones Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I just need to know
Even in a crowded room I still feel alone
Save me from this nightmare
I can't do it by myself
If I have to die tonight, will you be right here?
Hold my hand to show you love me
If I have to die tonight, will you be right here?
Baby don't go
Baby don't go
I'm outside of your window, with my radio
Baby don't go
Baby don't go
I'm outsife of your window, with my radio
Tell me where to go, I just need to know
Even in a crowded room I still feel alone
Save me from this nightmare
I can't do it by myself
Bones's song "Nightmare" is a poignant expression of the loneliness and desperation that can come with feeling lost and helpless. The lyrics speak to the desire for someone to help guide the singer through their struggles and to provide a sense of security and comfort. The opening lines set the tone for the song's themes, as the singer pleads for direction and reassurance. Even in the midst of a crowd, the singer feels entirely alone, a sentiment that many listeners may relate to.
The chorus speaks to the depth of the singer's despair, as they ask for someone to save them from the nightmare they're living. It's a stark reminder of the powerlessness that can come with difficult situations, and the desire for someone to take on some of the burden. The repeated refrain of "if I have to die tonight, will you be right here?" underscores the intensity of the singer's desperation.
The second verse turns to explicit imagery of the singer outside a lover's window, with a radio as their only connection. This adds an extra layer of melancholy to the song, as it seems the singer's romantic relationship may have also faltered, leaving them with no one to turn to. The final repetition of the chorus serves as a haunting reminder of the song's central themes, leaving the listener with a powerful sense of vulnerability and fear.
