Boogarins were formed in the Brazilian city of Goiania in the early 2010s. The project began as an untitled, recording-only entity, and before ever playing a single show, filling out the band to include a rhythm section, or even choosing a name, Ferraz and Almeida had recorded an album's worth of material. These recordings caught the ears of music hounds and tastemakers the world over, eventually landing in the hands of Other Music Recording Co., the label offshoot of long-standing New York record shop and cultural institution Other Music. Once signed to the label, the duo had to make haste in becoming a "real band" and quickly named themselves Boogarins after a type of jasmine flower. They titled their debut album As Plantas Que Curam, the English translation of which is "Plants That Heal." The band expanded to include drummer Hans Castro and bassist Raphael Vaz, and played their first shows in April of 2013. Their album saw release in September of the same year and the group toured internationally in support. After the tour, Castro left the band, replaced by new drummer Ynaiã Benthroldo. In 2015, the band issued their sophomore studio long-player Manual, again on Other Music. Their next record, 2017's La Vem a Morte was first posted on YouTube with no press leadup -- it was intended as a surprise gift for their listeners. The album was met with positive reviews and more touring ensued. Two years later, Boogarins returned with fourth album Sombrou Dúvida.

Muito moderna fugiu pro sul
Ela caiu do céu
Miss lisergia de 69'
No ano não se apaixonou
Por nenhum rapaz
Deu-me os livros
Abriu-me a cabeça
Lucifernandis la do sul
The song "Lucifernandis" by Boogarins tells a story about a lost girl who seems to be living in her own world, detached from reality. The opening lines of the song, "Menina perdida no céu azul, muito moderna fugiu pro sul," translate to "Lost girl in the blue sky, very modern, fled to the south." The girl ends up falling from the sky, which metaphorically represents her fall from her own delusional world. The lyrics highlight the girl's sense of detachment and disconnection from society, as she seems to be living in her own mind without engaging with the world around her.
The song also references "Miss Lisergia de 69'," which is believed to be a reference to the psychedelic culture of the 1960s, a time when drug use was prevalent among the youth. The girl "did not fall in love with any boy," suggesting that she was more interested in exploring her own mind and consciousness than engaging in romantic relationships.
Throughout the song, there are references to "Lucifernandis," who is described as a figure from the Cordilleras (a mountain range) in the south. "Lucifernandis das cordilheiras, deu-me os livros, abriu-me a cabeça, Lucifernandis la do sul" translates to "Lucifernandis of the Cordilleras, gave me the books, opened my mind, Lucifernandis from the south." This mysterious figure seems to have played a significant role in the girl's journey, shaping her thoughts and worldview.
Overall, the lyrics of "Lucifernandis" tell a story of a lost and disconnected girl who finds solace in her own mind and is influenced by a mysterious figure named Lucifernandis.
