Gabriel
Boogie Belgique Lyrics

I've been a scamp
But now i'm willin' to trim my lamp
So blow, Gabriel, blow
But now since I have seen the light
But now i'm willin' to trim my lamp
So blow, Gabriel, blow
Mighty low, Gabriel, low
The opening lines of Boogie Belgique's "Gabriel" are filled with religious and spiritual connotations. The lyrics, "I've been a sinner, I've been a scamp, but now I'm willing to trim my lamp," suggest that the singer has realized their past wrongdoing and is ready to make amends. They are seeking redemption, represented by the trope of "trimming" their lamp, which could be a reference to the parable of the ten virgins in the Bible. The singer is asking the angel Gabriel to "blow," likely referring to the biblical trumpet blasts that signal judgment and the end of the world, but in this case may represent a call for salvation.
The following lines, "But now since I have seen the light, but now I'm willing to trim my lamp," imply that the singer has had some kind of transformative experience or epiphany that has brought them out of darkness and into the light. The repetition of the phrase "But now" emphasizes this change and signifies a new beginning for the singer. The refrain, "So blow, Gabriel, blow," becomes a plea for the divine intervention that will enable the singer to turn their life around and find a path to salvation.
Overall, the lyrics of "Gabriel" evoke themes of repentance, redemption, and salvation, using religious imagery to express a desire for personal transformation.

The style of the beginning song reminds me so much of Happening Again and the rest is nostalgic like Goodnight Moon by Boogie Belgique. I love all three.
