Their collaboration started in 2000, when Mirko Jacob started performing in Klak's JoueJoue Club in Erfurt.
In autumn 2003, Boogie Pimps released their first single, a cover version of Jefferson Airplane's "Somebody to Love". In January 2004 this song entered the Top Ten of the UK singles chart. The music video for "Somebody to Love" was in instant hit in the UK, it featured real looking infants acting in a humorously adult fashion by sky diving out of a plane. It is often thought that Boogie Pimps made a video featuring an airplane, as the band they sampled the hit from was called Jefferson Airplane.
Their second single, "Sunny" was also a cover version. It was originally recorded by Bobby Hebb.
In 2004 they appeared on a white label, which was not widely released, under the pseudonym "Pimps Guerilla". They performed tracks such as "Right Out of Here" and "Make 'em Drop". While "Make 'em Drop" made it onto a few compilations, "Right Out of Here" is not commercially available, with the exception of whitelabels. This could be for legal reasons, as extracts of lyrics and melody were sampled from the end of Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody".

Don't you want
Don't you want
Don't you want
Don't you want
Don't you want
Don't you want
Don't you want somebody to love
Don't you need somebody to love
Wouldn't you love somebody to love
You better find somebody to love
Don't you want
Don't you want
Don't you want
Don't you want
Don't you want
Don't you want
Don't you want
Don't you want
Don't you want somebody to love
Don't you need somebody to love
Wouldn't you love somebody to love
You better find somebody to love
When the truth is found to be lies
And all the joy within you dies
Don't you want
Don't you want
Don't you want
Don't you want
Don't you want
Don't you want
Don't you want
Don't you want
Don't you want somebody to love
Don't you need somebody to love
Wouldn't you love somebody to love
You better find somebody to love
The lyrics of "Somebody to Love" by Boogie Pimps speak about the universal human need for love and companionship. The chorus "Don't you want somebody to love, Don't you need somebody to love, Wouldn't you love somebody to love, You better find somebody to love" emphasizes the importance of having someone to love and share your life with. The repetition of the phrases "don't you want" and "don't you need" creates a sense of urgency, as if the singer is urging the listener to not settle for a lonely life.
The second verse, "When the truth is found to be lies, And all the joy within you dies" speaks to the disappointment and heartache that can come with seeking love, particularly if someone has been deceived or hurt in the past. However, the song still maintains a positive message that finding love is ultimately worth the risk and the search. This is evident in the repeated refrain "You better find somebody to love."
Overall, "Somebody to Love" is a catchy and upbeat dance track with lyrics that touch on some deep emotional themes. It speaks to the universal human need for love and companionship, and the importance of finding that special someone to share your life with.
