They additionally have had several other dance-inspired tunes throughout the 80s and early 90s that gained underground popularity. Other examples of their songs include 1986's "You Make Me Feel So Good" and "Modigliani (Lost in Your Eyes)" as well as 1991's "Alice Everyday" and 1992's "Flower in My Hand". The group's new wave sound has showed a debt to eccentric art rock as well as electronic music artists of the early 80s. For example, their remix of Mike Oldfield's "Tubular Bells (Theme From the Exorcist)" was another number one smash for them.
Book of Love came to an end in 1993, with the group being dormant for some time. A best-of collection titled 'I Touch Roses: The Best of Book Of Love' came out in 2001. Receiving some critical praise, with Allmusic's Michael Gallucci labeling it as having "spare synth-pop and sunny melodies", a new Peter Rauhofer remix of "Boy" successfully hit the dance charts and brought the group back into the spotlight. They're toured occasionally since then. Ted and Lauren have also released music recently with a new project called The Myrmidons. Ted has done production work for NYC-based duo Dangerous Muse as well.

And you&'re away
I just close my eyes
And I drift away
Your warm body
Is what I'm without
I just close my eyes
And I dream about
Pretty boys and pretty girls
Pretty boys and pretty girls
(When I'm without)
Pretty boys
(I dream about)
Pretty girls
Stranges in the night
Exchanging glances
But sex is dangerous
I don't take my chances
The boys I meet
Say I look lonely
But I just walk on my
Because they're only
Pretty boys and pretty girls
Pretty boys and pretty girls
(when I'm without)
Pretty boys
(I dream about)
Pretty girls
In this day and age
In a city full of fear
With you by my side
Together we can show we care
Spreading joy to the world
To every boy and every girl
Pretty boys and pretty girls
Pretty boys and pretty girls
(what will we show?)
Spreading joy
(where will it go?)
To the world

The coolest part about this group is that it was a complete surprise to us to learn about them and it was a great surprise, because they are amazing. It was 80s and we went to see Tears for Fears in Radio City Music Hall, NYC. The opening act was Book of Love and when she came out giving roses to people in the front of the stage and singing I touch roses, we were sold on how good they are and their talent. It was the best show, but also the opening act was an amazing addition. Still can't believe that it was Book of Love opening. Pretty amazing.

I was actually thinking "Tears for Fears" or "Book of Love", make a choice right now 😂
Lisa Lynn
This song is about the friends they were losing to AIDS in their community in New York City. They didn't shy away from the devastation of it when asked about it either.

@Lisa Lynn And Tears For Fears, good as they are, would not do that back then. In fact, who else was?
Kyach Distent
@hal9thou001 It appears you don't need to, Tears For Fears were allowed to go on, whereas these, like the majority of the promising acts of the best decade of music ever, were simply made disappear. As usual.

I'll be 49 in February. This song brings back such amazing memories. We used to be able to go into a few clubs "before hours," before they started selling alcohol. It was just something they did down here in Texas. We were like packs of feral teens roaming the city just loving our lives.

I remember them playing this song in Austin... this one and "I touch roses." LOVE!!
