Read Full Bio ↴Born in 1981, Boris Brejcha was involved in music since early childhood.
His education included drums and keyboard lessons. This was a perfect foundation for the next step - producing and performing electronic dance music.
Boris Brejcha began producing and DJ-ing in November 2006. After both his first online MP3 debut "Monster" EP and the next EP titled "Yellow Kitchen" reached number one on many download platforms, he became the new techno shooting star and started playing gigs not only in his home country Germany, but also internationally.
Despite a common misperception, his music is not easily digestible, and can be more challenging to the average minimal/techno/hard house listener. He brings to the minimal sound a new sense of adventure, combining elements from electro, breaks, idm, and even sometimes (if you look really closely) some ambient arrangements in an attempt to expand the spectrum of minimal.
Boris Brejcha is also known under the moniker Anna which mirrors the more technoid and dark side of him.
Anna aka Boris Brejcha has released on labels like Harthouse, Regular and of course AUTIST.records (where it all started...) and his releases have been supported by the likes of John Digweed, Sasha, Richie Hawtin and Microfunk a lot since then.

In Boris Brejcha's song "House Music," the repeated phrase "House music" serves as both a title and a refrain, emphasizing the central theme of the track. The remark about house music conveys a sense of foundational passion—the idea that house music is not just a genre but a lifeblood that elevates the listener's spirit. This creates an immediate connection with the audience, inviting them to immerse themselves in the cultural and emotional landscape of house music. By chanting the phrase repetitively, Brejcha captures the euphoric and transcendent power of this genre, suggesting that it transcends mere auditory experience and transforms into a communal ritual for those who dance and embrace its rhythm.
The lyric "You take me high" suggests an exhilarating experience, particularly within the context of a musical or emotional connection. This phrase can be interpreted as the uplifting impact of house music, which allows individuals to elevate their state of mind, leaving behind their worries and sorrows. When suggesting that "I had to lose you to be found," it introduces a complex emotional dichotomy experienced in relationships, implying personal growth often occurs through loss. This interplay between losing someone and finding oneself resonates with the sense of liberation that house music can provide; at the same time, it hints at the bittersweet nature of such a journey, where beauty and pain coexist as artists and listeners navigate their emotional landscapes.
The imagery of watching a "fire burning" is both literal and metaphorical. Fires can represent passion, warmth, and inspiration—a natural element that creates connections among people, much like music itself. Observing the fire signifies a sense of contemplation or communal experience, inviting both reflection and celebration. The mention of "our wings have never seen the sun" suggests a sense of confinement or unrealized potential, indicating that listeners may feel trapped in their lives or relationships. Yet, through the shared experience of house music, there is hope for flight and liberation. The music emerges as a transformative force, offering an opportunity for individuals to break free from their constraints and embrace their full potential.
Ultimately, the repetition of "house music" throughout the song reinforces the notion that this genre goes beyond mere entertainment; it’s a powerful medium for personal transformation and community connection. By blending themes of loss, self-discovery, and the exhilaration of music, Boris Brejcha articulates the profound impact of house music in shaping emotional experiences. It becomes clear that house music is not just an escape but a catalyst for encountering deeper truths about oneself and fostering connections with others. Through dance, shared feelings, and the immersive quality of music, individuals can find solace and a sense of belonging, allowing them to transcend their ordinary existence and ascend to new heights of fulfillment.
