Regarding the band's influences and aesthetic, Rodriguez Lopez noted, "These are very much shorter, more to-the-point songs than The Mars Volta's. They still have spaces that stretch out, but what I mean to say is that it's all the same influences that have been in most of my writing and all the people in my bands' writing. Can is there, Siouxsie and the Banshees is there, Gang Of Four is there, all the Led Zeppelin, whatever... all those things are there, it's just different elements of those things. You make it shorter. It's stripped down, it's starker. The very melodic side of Can; the very textural side of Siouxsie. You take all those elements, and you take elements that maybe you weren't exploring as much before."

Into the open womb, my open womb
The feeling is mean and full and red
No matter how hard I try it makes no sound
Summer breaks into my pores
Into these holes I once knew well
They once were strong
The more I try to feel the less realistic I become
All feelings I have for red are dead
Are dead, are dead and lonesome
All feelings I have for red are dead,
You're dead to me, to me, to me
Fall fears the likes of me
Even when the solar moon lets go of you
The feeling is mean and full of black
No matter how hard I try I can't look back
All feelings I have for red are dead
Are dead, are dead and lonesome
All feelings I have for red are dead,
You're dead to me, to me, to me
Walking on your grained path
Searching for your mind
Feeling once forgotten
Loving you has died
Spring kisses all my thoughts
These strands of memories invading us throughout life
All feelings I have for red are dead
Are dead, are dead and lonesome
All feelings I have for red are dead,
You're dead to me, to me, to me
The song "Red" by Bosnian Rainbows is a deep and emotional expression of the singer's feelings of loss and pain. The color red is used as a metaphor for the diverse emotions that are explored in this song, such as winter's coldness, the vibrant life of summer, the fall of a once-strong self, and the memories of spring. The opening lyrics talk about how winter, with its cold temperatures, manages to seep under the singer's skin. It is almost as if they feel frozen or numb, unable to express their feelings.
As the song progresses, the singer describes how summer takes over, but the joy and happiness it brings are short-lived. The feeling of strength and persistence, which they once knew well, is now gone, and they find themselves unable to feel anything. Then the fall arrives, with the darkness that overshadows everything. The singer cannot look back or remember the good times; they are just looking for a way out.
Finally, in the last verse, the singer talks about spring, and how the memories of happier times come back to them. But, unfortunately, it's too late; all of their emotions for the color red (and the how it represents their feelings) have died. The love that they once felt for someone is gone; they are nothing but a memory now.
Overall, the song is expressing the experience of losing someone or something that was once important to you. It deals with the stages of grief and the struggle to move forward.
