Voices
Bossfight & Philip Strand Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Head down in the water
No fear as they fill up my lungs
No light in the tunnel
I'm fighting for my life
And I'm giving up TKO
Even though I am surrounded
I still feel alone
But my shadow keeps me company

'Cause everywhere I go
I'm seeing faces
I'm hearing voices
Telling me I ain't good enough
And everywhere I go
I'm seeing faces
I'm hearing voices
Telling me I'm not good enough

'Cause everywhere I go
I'm seeing faces
I'm hearing voices
'Cause everywhere I go
I'm seeing faces
I'm hearing voices

And everywhere I go
I'm seeing faces
I'm hearing voices
I'm seeing faces
And everywhere I go
I'm seeing faces
I'm hearing voices
Telling me I'm not good enough

Head down in the water
No fear as they fill, fill, fill up
No, no light, no, no light in the tunnel
I'm fighting for my life
And I, I giving up

Even though I am surrounded
I still feel alone

'Cause everywhere I go
I'm seeing faces
I'm hearing voices
Telling me I ain't good enough
And everywhere I go
I'm seeing faces
I'm hearing voices
Telling me I'm not good enough

'Cause everywhere I go
I'm seeing faces
I'm hearing voices
'Cause everywhere I go
I'm seeing faces
I'm hearing voices

And everywhere I go
I'm seeing faces
I'm hearing voices
I'm seeing faces
And everywhere I go
I'm seeing faces

I'm hearing voices
Telling me I'm not good enough

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Bossfight & Philip Strand's song "Voices" talk about how the singer feels surrounded by negative voices and faces that tell him he is not good enough. The first two lines describe the singer putting his head down in the water, which does not scare him as he lets his lungs fill up. The following lyrics tell us that he is fighting for his life but is still giving up, a contradiction that suggests he is struggling to survive. The lyrics then repeat the line "Everywhere I go, I'm seeing faces, I'm hearing voices," emphasizing how he feels like he cannot escape the negativity that surrounds him.

The next set of lyrics talks about how he is surrounded by people, but he still feels alone. This emphasizes the feeling of isolation that the singer feels despite being physically present with other people. The repetition of the chorus emphasizes how the negative voices and faces are affecting the singer's perception of the world around him. The final repetition of "I'm seeing faces, I'm hearing voices, telling me I'm not good enough" drives home the theme of the song and the impact negativity can have on a person's psyche.

Overall, the lyrics of "Voices" paint a picture of someone struggling with negative self-talk and feelings of inadequacy. The repetitive nature of the lyrics emphasizes how difficult it can be to escape these negative thoughts and feelings.

Even after having a writers block, Bossfight still hasn’t lost his touch whatsoever. Him getting back together with Strand too also makes this an incredible OG track return

@Hanu Sharma If you think about it, maybe this song is about that writers block. It paints a picture about how someone keeps hearing things telling him he's not good enough. Maybe those voices were speaking to Bossfight. Maybe they were telling him that because he had writer's block that he was a failure.

So the story is, in fact, memorable. It tells a story that I'd love to hear over and over again, like a child hearing his favourite bedtime story.
