Hitch a Ride
Boston Lyrics

Day is night in New York City
Smoke, like water, runs inside
Steel idle trees to pity
Every living thing that's died

Gonna hitch a ride
Head for the other side
Leave it all behind
Never change my mind
Gonna sail away
Sun lights another day
Freedom on my mind
Carry me away for the last time
Oh yeah

Life is like the coldest winter
People freeze the tears I cry
Words of hail their minds are into
I've got to crack this ice and fly

Gonna hitch a ride
Head for the other side
Leave it all behind
Never change my mind
Gonna sail away
Sun lights another day
Freedom on my mind
Carry me away for the last time

Gonna hitch a ride
Head for the other side
Leave it all behind
Never change my mind
Gonna sail away
Sun lights another day
Freedom on my mind
Carry me away for the last time

Brad, from the interviews and life story I watched, did suffer from chronic depression, which I can relate to. I am sure no matter how much money or fame someone
obtains, the day to day emotions and mood swings take their toll. The Documentary stated that Brad was about to be married as well, or was just married, everyone who
knew Him or met Him said that He was the kindest man they had ever met. When you are a passionate giver, and continually feel that you haven't given enough, it can tend
to make you neurotic and anxious. Always running through your mind what you have forgotten to do, or may have done improperly. This happens to be my favorite song by them tied with Peace of Mind, it is a hauntingly beautiful and deeply sad song, equating the corruption of the wilderness which once was Manhattan Island with a
Metal and Glass Forest. Indifferent people carelessly ripping at your soul with words of contempt and hatred, living in a modern travesty of mechanized life.
A Man like Brad I imagine, could really relate to, and deeply feel, these beautifully crafted phrases, written by Tom. I have from the day the first Album was released reveled in His music as so many others. I keep coming back to this song, and I feel it embodies the disgust of the system, with the Pure Joy of what awaits us on the other side.
Sublime Poetry of Juxtaposition, which really encapsulates in a song, the futility of life, and the bliss that awaits us, I embrace this life as a learning phase, I love songs like
this when I can so feel the authors world view by the metaphors He used, and how the words flow perfectly with the song, doesn't hurt that the guitar solo is a Masterpiece
as well as the Hammond Organ. Needless to say this song has been stuck in my head for 40 years. Brad Delp was one of the greatest, if not the greatest male vocalist
I have ever heard, it surely saddened me when He took His life. He is a Legend now and I get to hear His amazing voice anytime I wish, which is anytime I am down.
Such Irony that A Man who continues to give so many, so much joy, felt only increasing sadness until He could bear it no longer, I suppose the act of always giving joy drained Him

Just unbelievable. One of the greatest guitar solos ever

@Melodycat918
I enjoy this guitar playing more than anything by Rhoads or Van Halen,..who I absolutely love.

I like how the guitar solo carries this song into oblivion. However when you think Tom Schultz is a guitar god. Along cones Eddie Van Halen and Randy Rhoads. And suddenly Rock guitar just entered a new dimension. But this is one of the greatest American albums of all time nevertheless

You made the point I was going to make..It's a good point.
But in reality,..If a person loves the solo or guitar playing, they should just echo the sentiment and move on.
It is just being an excessive prude to worry about such worthless technicalities. Even if the harmonized sections were played/recorded by another player,..It still sounds like a guitar solo.
