Don't You
Bouncing Souls The Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Hey, hey, hey ,hey
Oh

Won't you come see about me?
I'll be alone, dancing you know it baby

Tell me your troubles and doubts
Giving me everything inside and out and
Love's strange so real in the dark
Think of the tender things that we were working on

Slow change may pull us apart
When the light gets into your heart, baby

Don't You Forget About Me
Don't Don't Don't Don't
Don't You Forget About Me

Will you stand above me?
Look my way, never love me
Rain keeps falling, rain keeps falling
Down, down, down

Will you recognize me?
Call my name or walk on by
Rain keeps falling, rain keeps falling
Down, down, down, down

Hey, hey, hey, hey
Oh

Don't you try to pretend
It's my feeling we'll win in the end
I won't harm you or touch your defenses
Vanity and security

Don't you forget about me
I'll be alone, dancing you know it baby
Going to take you apart
I'll put us back together at heart, baby

Don't You Forget About Me
Don't Don't Don't Don't
Don't You Forget About Me

As you walk on by
Will you call my name?
As you walk on by
Will you call my name?
When you walk away

Or will you walk away?
Will you walk on by?
Come on - call my name
Will you all my name?

I say la la la

Overall Meaning

"Don't You (Forget About Me)" is a classic track by The Bouncing Souls that is full of nostalgia for the '80s. It's a romantic song that speaks of the fear of being forgotten by someone you love. The opening lines "Won't you come see about me?/I'll be alone, dancing, you know it, baby" speak of the singer's loneliness and the hope that the person he's addressing will come and see him dance. They also indicate the need for human connection.

The second verse of the song, "Slow change may pull us apart/When the light gets into your heart, baby," highlights the idea that even though the singer has fears and doubts, their love is strong enough to withstand any challenges that come their way. The chorus of the song, "Don't You (Forget About Me)/Don't Don't Don't Don't/Don't You (Forget About Me)," is a plea to the person the singer is talking to, with the singer asking them not to forget about their love.

The third verse of the song, "Don't you try to pretend/It's my feeling we'll win in the end/I won't harm you or touch your defenses/Vanity and security," shows the singer's confidence in their love and their willingness to put their partner's needs before their own. These lyrics suggest that love requires courage and the willingness to risk being vulnerable.

@TruthDevours

One of the more ambitious covers. And they did an incredible job.

@MisterGutsy420

The original was always really close to me for various reasons. I started to get into the souls when I was 13 and they became my favorite band. When I listened to this cover the first time It was transcendent. Thanks for the upload and for keeping it on your channel all these years.

@skapunker21

I always thought that this song could use some horns to liven it up a bit. Then i heard this cover. Yup, they nailed it.

I know that the rock group "Simple Minds" performed and recorded this song in 1984-1985 (and it was performed in the movie "The Breakfast Club"); and I know that Billy Idol has also performed this; but in what year did this version come out?
