Bow Lyrics

Sweatshops and brand-slaves blown away
So long
I'm wasted, cant deny it
Its been so long since I tried to fight it
So long
At lights out his wings shine like star showers
Shine on me
So bless you coke and Nike
There's blue skies over Hawaii
So long
The lyrics to Bows's song Hey Vegas paint a vivid picture of a world where consumerism and capitalism have run rampant. The opening line, "If James Dean was here we'd still be great," speaks to the idea that even icons like James Dean couldn't save us from the current state of things. The imagery of "sweatshops and brand-slaves blown away" represents a longing for a world without the exploitation of workers and the constant bombardment of advertising.
The line "I'm wasted, can't deny it" suggests a sense of defeatism and apathy towards the world's problems. The singer acknowledges that it's been so long since they've tried to fight against the current system. The mention of James Dean rising from the grave and "shin[ing] like star showers" at lights out could be interpreted as a symbol for hope and renewal. The final lines, "So bless you coke and Nike / There's blue skies over Hawaii / So long," are a biting commentary on the false sense of happiness and contentment that consumer culture promises.
Overall, Hey Vegas is a commentary on the destructive nature of capitalism and the struggle to maintain a sense of hope and purpose in a world inundated with consumerism.
