Almost
Bowling for Soup Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I almost got drunk at school at fourteen,
Where I almost made out with the Homecoming Queen,
Who almost went on to be Ms. Texas,
But lost to a slut with much bigger breastests
I almost dropped out to move to L.A.,
Where I was almost famous for almost a day,

And I almost had you,
But I guess that doesn't cut it,
Almost loved you,
I almost wish you would've loved me too,

I almost held up a grocery store,
Where I almost did five years and then seven more,
Cause I almost got caught for a fight with a thug,
Cause he almost made off with a bunch of the drugs,
That I almost got hooked on cause you ran away,
And I wish I would've had the nerve to ask you to stay,

And I almost had you,
But I guess that doesn't cut it,
Almost had you,
And I didn't even know it,
You kept me guessing and now I'm destined to spend my time missing you,
I almost wish you would've loved me too,

Here I go thinking about all the things I could of done,
I'm gonna need a forklift cause all the baggage weighs a ton,
And though we had our problems I can't remember one,

I almost forgot to say something else,
And if I can't fit it in
I'll keep it all to myself,
I almost wrote a song about you today,
But I tore it all up and then I threw it away,

And I almost had you,
But I guess that doesn't cut it,
Almost had you,
And I didn't even know it,
You kept me guessing and now I'm destined to spend my time missing you,
And I almost had you,

And I almost had you,
I almost wish you would've loved me too

I remember seeing these guys do a surprise show at a small venue in AZ. They literally stopped their set to talk to a sad girl from the audience whose boyfriend had just broken up with her. They used her phone to call and leave the guy a hilarious voicemail about how he screwed up and she's with them now. I have so much love and respect for this band. Amazing music, and incredible people.

I was at that show. I was standing just a couple of feet away from her. I’m fairly certain you can me laughing my ass off in the background of that voicemail.

@vmo4136

@@mcrchickenluvr Omg no way, so was I! Do you know if there's a video of it anywhere? It is one of my all time favorite memories of any concert ever.

@Hybridvx

@@vmo4136i wanna see this!! Hopefully someone has this

@vmo4136

@@Hybridvx If you do find it, please let me know. I've been looking for it for years.

@mcrchickenluvr

@@vmo4136 I had video of it on my old phone. I’m not sure if I can access it though. That piece of shit won’t accept any of the chargers I have for it. I might be able to get it off the memory provided it didn’t get corrupted.

I think what I've always liked about Bowling for Soup is that they have a good sense of humor about themselves, their music videos being more comedy centered than others.

@chloed.7047

Yeah, I like that they're not afraid to look like absolute idiots for a video. It's really cool XD

@mollytaylor8122

Yeah, that's why I love groups like Bowling for Soup and The Offspring. That whole genre was so 90s - turning everything into comedic self deprecation.

@kymmxkymmx

@@mollytaylor8122 No, they're from 2000s, not 90s.
