Roses
Boy In Space Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

All of us
Running ′round the circles 'til we′re out of luck
Keep on driving, wheels are falling off the bus
I just can't wrap my head around it, yeah

Why did I
See you crying while the trains are passing by?
Like you don't remember we were feeling high
Shaking in my arms, yeah, we′re falling, hey, hey

Nights like this, I wish there was some nights like this

Sometimes sunshine, go away
Don′t lie, it's all on your face
Baby, I know you′re cut open
When the tears fall, I'm leaving you roses

Sometimes I cry, in the rain
I don′t know why, I'm okay
Baby, I try not to show it
Whеn the tears fall, I′m leaving you rosеs

I can't lie
It hurts to see you hurting while I'm by your side
Ceilings caving in inside your room tonight
You′re not picking up when I′m calling
Yeah, yeah, yeah

It's cold tonight
The sky is painted black, and now it′s closing time
Wish that you could see yourself through my eyes
Shaking in your arms, yeah, we're falling, yeah, hey

Nights like this, I wish there was some nights like this, whoo!

Sometimes sunshine, go away
Don′t lie, it's all on your face (it′s all on your face)
Baby, I know you're cut open (baby, I know you're cut open)
When the tears fall, I′m leaving you roses (I′m leaving you roses)

Sometimes I cry, in the rain
I don't know why, I′m okay
Baby, I try not to show it (I try not to show it)
When the tears fall, I'm leaving you roses (roses)

Sunshine, I leave you roses
Baby, I know you′re cut open
When the tears fall, I'm leaving you roses

Sometimes sunshine, go away
Don′t lie, it's all on your face

Baby, I know you're cut open
When the tears fall, I′m leaving you roses

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Boy In Space's song "Roses" depict a familiar feeling of helplessness when someone you care about is going through a tough time. The singer, who seems to be in a relationship with the person in question, can't seem to understand why they're hurting and seems to be at a loss as to how to fix things. The line "Running 'round the circles til we're out of luck" captures the sense of futility that comes with trying to help someone who can't seem to be helped. The singer also seems to be struggling with his own emotions, as evidenced by the line "sometimes I cry in the rain, I don't know why, I'm okay." Throughout the song, there is a sense of wanting to stay by the person's side and help them, but also a sense of hopelessness and an awareness that sometimes it's not possible to make things better.
