I Look to You
Boyce Avenue/Musicfire.in Lyrics

As I lay me down
Heaven hear me now
I'm lost without a cause
After giving it my all

Winter storms have come
And darkened my sun
After all that I've been through
Who on earth can I turn to

I look to you
I look to you

After all my strength is gone
In you I can be strong

I look to you
I look to you

Yeah

And when melodies are gone
In you I hear a song

I look to you

After losing my breath
There's no more fighting left
Sinking to rise no more
Searching for that open door

And every road that I've taken
Led to my regret
And I don't know if I'm gonna make it
Nothing to do but lift my head

I look to you
I look to you

Yeah

And when all my strength is gone
In you I can be strong

I look to you
I look to you

Oh yeah

And when melodies are gone
In you I hear a song

I look to you

Coming down on me

All the rain is falling

Set me free

Take me far away from the battle
I need you
Shine on me

I look to you
I look to you

After all my strength has gone
In you I can be strong

I look to you
I look to you

And when melodies are gone
In you I hear a song

I look to you

Yeah

I look to you
I look to you

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Boyce Avenue's song "I Look to You" express a sense of desperation and vulnerability, yet also convey a deep longing for hope and strength. The song begins with the singer feeling lost and without a purpose, despite having given their all in a certain endeavor. The reference to "winter storms" symbolizes difficult and challenging times that have darkened their life, leaving them feeling alone and hopeless. They question who they can turn to for support and guidance.

In the chorus, the singer finds solace and strength by looking to someone or something higher than themselves. This could be a metaphor for seeking spiritual or emotional support, or even finding inspiration in a person who represents resilience and determination. They realize that even when they feel weak and exhausted, they can find inner strength and empowerment in this external source. The mention of melodies disappearing suggests a loss of joy or inspiration, but they are able to find a new song or melody through this connection, indicating a renewed sense of hope and purpose.

The second verse continues to explore the hardships the singer has faced, feeling as if there is no fight left and no way to rise above their struggles. They have made choices that they regret, and doubt their ability to overcome their current situation. However, they choose to lift their head and look to this external source once again for guidance and support.

The bridge emphasizes the burdens and challenges that the singer is facing, with rain symbolizing hardships and the desire to be set free from the battle they are fighting. They express the need for the external source to shine on them and provide them with strength and guidance.

Overall, "I Look to You" is a song that speaks to the universal human experience of facing difficulties and searching for hope and strength outside of oneself. It conveys the message that even in the darkest times, there is always a source of inspiration and support to turn to.

"Fire And Rain"

Just yesterday morning, they let me know you were gone.
Suzanne, the plans they made put an end to you.
I walked out this morning and I wrote down this song,
I just can't remember who to send it to.
I've seen fire and I've seen rain. I've seen sunny days that I thought would never end.
I've seen lonely times when I could not find a friend, but I always thought that I'd see you again.

Won't you look down upon me, Jesus, You've got to help me make a stand.
You've just got to see me through another day.
My body's aching and my time is at hand and I won't make it any other way.
Oh, I've seen fire and I've seen rain. I've seen sunny days that I thought would never end.
I've seen lonely times when I could not find a friend, but I always thought that I'd see you again.

Been walking my mind to an easy time, my back turned towards the sun.
Lord knows when the cold wind blows it'll turn your head around.
Well, there's hours of time on the telephone line to talk about things to come.
Sweet dreams and flying machines in pieces on the ground.

Oh, I've seen fire and I've seen rain. I've seen sunny days that I thought would never end.
I've seen lonely times when I could not find a friend,
but I always thought that I'd see you baby, one more time again, now.

Thought I'd see you one more time again.
There's just a few things coming my way this time around, now.
Thought I'd see you, thought I'd see you, fire and rain, now.
