Boyd Rice and Friends Lyrics
Wake up
Take a breath
It's a new day
Open your eyes
Start again
You're at the beginning
This is not where I was
It's not where I want to be
This is not who I was
It's not who I want to be
It's not who I was
When I laid my head down last night
This is starting over
All the work I did
To be ok and not to hate myself
Has been undone and I
I don't want to feel this
I don't want to sit in this inadequacy anymore
This is not who I am
I'm not who I want to be
I shouldn't be some mirror image of somebody else
So where do I start
Tell me where's the starting line
I don't know where to begin in being ok with who I am
Do you ever give advice
And then refuse
To take it for yourself?
Like self-prescribing a cure
And then refusing to adhere
It's ok to not be ok
To not have to scrape your way
Out of that pit
Right away
But instead to sit and understand
Who "you" really is
Take a breath
It's a new day
Open your eyes
Start again
You're at the beginning
This is not where I was
It's not where I want to be
This is not who I was
It's not who I want to be
It's not who I was
When I laid my head down last night
This is starting over
All the work I did
To be ok and not to hate myself
Has been undone and I
I don't want to feel this
I don't want to sit in this inadequacy anymore
This is not who I am
I'm not who I want to be
I shouldn't be some mirror image of somebody else
So where do I start
Tell me where's the starting line
I don't know where to begin in being ok with who I am
Do you ever give advice
And then refuse
To take it for yourself?
Like self-prescribing a cure
And then refusing to adhere
It's ok to not be ok
To not have to scrape your way
Out of that pit
Right away
But instead to sit and understand
Who "you" really is
